Could have been a completely different fight if that uppercut never landed. I don't think Cotto makes the same mistakes in the rematch.
Just prior to the 2nd knockdown, Cotto had Manny on the ropes and pounded away, but did not hurt Manny one bit. Then Manny gets off the ropes and starts firing combos at Cotto and eventually dropped him.
It's going to happen again.

I never said it would be a walk in the park for Cotto.

Some of you guys are seriously delusional, assuming the weight will not make a difference. At 145 Manny even admitted that his punches hurt, but that he had to make it look like they weren't, Freddie knew Marg was still in Cotto's head. If he couldn't hurt you, and he got hurt first he was just lost especially without a trainer to give him any kind of direction.
The uppercut was more a result of Cotto's horrible techinque in that fight, watch that knockdown again, Cotto's head was lower than his arms when he was throwing a punch. Not having a trainer had a horrible affect on Cotto, along with the weight. Cotto maybe came in weighing 155 on fight night, as JMW he comes in weighing 160-165, that's a lot more than Manny will weigh and the punches WILL affect Manny more, period. It isn't just that but a trainer with his renewed technique and a gameplan this time, not just to slug it out with Manny. I'm just saying there is a reason Manny doesn't want Cotto at 150, because he knows Cotto is a lot more dangerous at the weight.

you can make that argument about any boxing match dude
there's a reason why people dont
if only he didn't get hit he could have won the fight?
if only!
last fight's result was a product of pacquiao's superiority
cotto will go one of two routs:
1. make take the risks neccessary to win the fight. have a very slight chance of winning, while opening himself up to the possibility of getting caught and hurt and stopped.
we've already seen that fight. weight has nothing to do with it. cotto tried for five or six rounds. he got caught, and if he continued to try and win the fight he would have been stopped.
dont take the risks. cotto decided//discovered early on in the pacquiao fight (lets say around the 5th or 6th round) that he had no hope of winning, and that trying to win would get him stopped
that notion was clearly evident in the way he fought the rest of the fight
he was not trying to win. you have to take risks to win. especially if you are miguel cotto fighting manny pacquiao, you have to open up
cotto will show up for a payday, with no intention of winning
i dont want to see a great fighter reduced to that again
the end of that fight was horrible. how can any of you guys enjoy that?
especially the cotto fans, how do you guys want to see any more of that?
usually people are entitled to their own opinions
usually
you guys are way off on this one. way off.
pacquiao's fights are a finite quantity. to waste one of them for a miguel cotto rematch would be gut wrenching for any real fan of sport.
