i would go out on a limb and say that the 37 year old version of larry holmes would put up a very competitive fight against a 37 year old version of lennox lewis, possibly even win the fight.
Why do a lot of people think tysons power was overrated ? .

because it was. Its was his speed that was devistating. Think about it. The last thing the a fighter loses is his power, and the first thing that goes is his speed. So all those year where mike was KO bums he had Power AND Speed. Now that he is in the latter part of his "Career" he has only his power left. But without the speed, his power does nothing for him. EXAMPLE: Williams, Lewis, Holyfield, Mcbride. With the execption of holyfield, tyson should have easily KO all of the rest.Comment

that is my point. If his speed isnt there to quickly and forcefully place his shot before an opponent moves, the power does nothing.Comment

Rasta is correct. Look how ineffective his power is without the speed behind it. Then look at George Foreman, Gerry Cooney, and Marciano who didn't have that speed but were still powerful ****ers. Obviously Tyson's power alone is not up to par with Foreman's power for example. If it was he would still be a serious threat even without his handspeed.
Tyson's style has always depended on perpetual head movement and quick combinations. Movement was Tyson's greatest asset. Without it he's just a guy with pretty damn good power.Comment
