Kobe probably could, the guy is insanely mentally tough and I can't f%cking stand the douche he's even playing with a torn ligament in his shooting WRIST. You HAVE to be mentally tough to play in these sports, you must have a warrior's mentality to play in the NFL. Guys are always playing with injuries, McNabb played with a broken leg before, Demarcus Ware played with a sprained neck, guys are always playing with injuries!
In basketball guys are always talking crap to each other guys like Kobe, Lebron, Wade etc. all have targets on their backs, even rookies. Guys are constantly challenging each other, you have to prove yourself 1 on 1 against these guys, it's extremely taxing mentally.
Seth Mitchell is a GREAT example.
Guy is an average athlete at best, guys like him are a dime a dozen, he's not very big either.
The guy hadn't even stepped in a ring prior to 2006, he only started after he saw Tommy Z (Another example) win a boxing match, it inspired him.
He played college football, but was forced to retire after knee and shoulder/neck injuries.
He started boxing in '06, had just 10 amateur fights from '06-'07 going 9-1. Turned pro in '08, and is now 24-0 as a pro.
This inexperienced fighter just defeated and KO'd a legit HW in just 2 rounds, (by today's standards) in Ibragimov, a guy who has never been KO'd before.
A guy who had over 200 amateur fights and 30 pro fights was KO'd in just 2 rounds against a guy who just picked up boxing a few years ago, a guy that was already 26 when he turned pro.
Mitchell was quoted as saying "Imagine how good I'd be if I started boxing when I was 12"
Now, remember these are PROSPECTS that are being taken away from HW boxing. Nobody is saying a guy could automatically make the transfer like Mitchell did although it is possible.
If that doesn't convince you that would be HW's are playing football and basketball I don't know what will, it also shows just how weak the HW division is.
