Byrd put on a defensive clinic. Whitaker-esque performance.

Such close rounds. Byrd fought an excellent fight considering he gave up a half a foot in height, 35lbs in weight and had no power to speak of. Anybody who thinks Vitaly would have beaten Ali just needs to watch this fight. Byrd is was smaller, slower and softer punching fighter than Ali was.

Yep, but look how close the rounds were even though Byrd had such huge disadvantages.

It also shows how overrated Vitali's power is. Byrd stood right infront of him the whole fight, ate several flush shots with little to no effect, and almost everytime, immediately answered with sharp counters. Byrd at no time in the fight was hurt, or even slightly bothered by anything Vitali landed.

Now you see the reason why Vitali has cherrypicked nothing but fat plodders with no head/upper body movement, poor footwork and only move in straight lines. Stylistically, Vitali is only able to deal with these type of boxers. He hasn't proven to this day, that he can deal with a fighter that has a combination of good head/upper body/lateral movement and good hand/foot speed.

He would be red meat, for fighters like Ali, Frazier, Louis, Holyfield, Holmes or Tyson etc. etc. etc.

              Try 4 or 5.

You don't win rounds by hitting nothing but air & gloves for the majority of the fight.

GLOVES & AIR aren't a scoring area, contrary to popular belief.

                  calzaghe's 46-0 record says otherwise

overrated indeed. he couldn't even ko an ancient statue named shannon briggs. he's just used to fighting fat slobs who gas after 6 rounds then he "ko's" them when they are struggling to breathe. the only guy in good shape that vitali fought since his remarkable "comeback" was adamek and adamek is a pressure fighter not a boxer so he got murdered. it would be like hatton trying to take out margarito.

in vitali's defense there are no good boxers at heavyweight because they are all overweight blimps and if you are an overweight blimp you are forced to fight a plodding type of fight. you can't move around the ring and box. you don't have the ability, agility, or stamina to do that when you weigh 2 tons of lard.
