Get real, Manny wants nothing of the sort.....

THE LIE: " I want to fight Mayweather "
THE TRUTH: " I have already selected an opponent for June 9th "
WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has set his next date, and picked his opponent, and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is not on the menu. In a recent interview with Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum revealed that Pacquiao was going to return on June 9th at a new outdoor venue on the Las Vegas Strip. Mayweather is scheduled to fight on May 5th at the MGM Grand. The temporary venue wil be constructed to seat 38,000 fans, says Arum.

THE LIE: " I will accept less money "
THE TRUTH: " 50/50 or no fight "
In an interview last night with Dyan Castillejo of Filipino TV network ABS-CBN, Manny Pacquiao revealed that he spoke to Floyd Mayweather on the telephone regarding their proposed superfight.

THE LIE: " Manny's cut will not heal in time "
THE TRUTH: " we will fight Marquez on May 5th "

THE LIE: " making the fight is more important than money "
THE TRUTH: " we need to build a stadium in order to maximize revenue "
The war of words continue. Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya, and Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, exchanged words over the details related to a Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquiao welterweight fight. De La Hoya wants the fight to take place on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Arum wants the fight to take place in late-May in an outdoor arena on the Las Vegas strip.

What's crazy about this whole thing is Arum is concerned with the extra seating for the Mayweather fight, but not the other fights. Obviously Floyd is the bigger draw. If he wasn't, there would be no need to have extra seats for that fight and not the others. So I suppose there will be a problem with him getting more of the money?

When Floyd fought Oscar De La Hoya, he made much less money than him. Why? At that time Oscar De La Hoya was still a huge draw. Mayweather had beat some guys but he wasn't the bigger draw in that fight. So he had to take less money. He couldn't just come to the table and get 50/50 because De La Hoya did big numbers while Floyd didn't at that time.

It's obvious Floyd is the bigger draw. And the bigger draw has to get paid more period. I posted this before that Floyd is definitely going to want more money and that he should get it if the fight happens. But of course this will be used as a way to blame Floyd for the fight not happening.

I think Arum is more concerned with trying to make a fight with Mayweather in November. But it's a big risk for Pacquiao. I'm already one of the fans that really is not interested in this fight. And if Pacquiao ends up getting beat or beat up and handed another victory, why would we still need to see a Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight?

Which brings me to my next topic. I think Pacquiao will try to take the least dangerous opponent so as to not jeapordize the fight with Floyd. Lamont Peterson seems to be the prime candidate.
