150 is a catch-weight for anyone, title or not.

Catch-weight's were originally conceived back under the original divisional system to enable a match-up between two name opponents who would normally never meet because of weight disparity.

Those fights did not initially involve fighters who were on top of their game, they did not involve titles, and they were known as an "exhibition match".

Today, we have 17 divisions, so catchweights are completely unnecessary.

Boxing uses weight divisions, and it uses them for a reason.....

" if you can't handle the heat, then get out of the kitchen "

There are only two reasons to require a catch-weight.....

1.) you are not good enough to compete with your opponent as his natural weight, which is fine

2.) you are attempting to drain him to gain an unfair advantage, which is not fine

Green k for reminding me of one of the best fighter names ever, James "The Heat" Kinchen.

One of my favorites is something like this, I cant remember exactly.....

Richard " no relation " Hagler

I laughed my head off when I saw that.

First name may not have been Richard.

just when i was starting to respect and like floyd for his efforts to make the pac fight

he goes off and makes a bitcccch made statement asking a mw 37 year old

come down to 150.. aint that some ****..

hey floyd, drop down to 140 and see how drained you feel..

floyd is the best in the business..

no reason he cant fight sergio at 160

skills pay the bills, he can come in at 155 and sergio is around 158

that is an even playing field

isnt that why floyd wants testing for an even playing field but he drains a

dude down to an uneven playing field

              bad move floyd...

Interesting, thanks. Does anyone else have any thoughts on the weight ?
I think they should do a 160 day of the fight weigh in for the lineal mw title. In any case pac is such a *****.

Martinez at 150 is a tougher and actually better match up than anybody Floyd can fight that's not named Pac. Martinez at 150 will be tougher and a more challenging fight for Floyd than what Cotto would be right now at any weight.
