I rather they just make it a full 160 fight with a fight night rehydration clause of around 162.

I'd like to see this fight at 154. I'm not so sure Martinez would make weight for 150.

I'm surprised he called him out, but it goes against Floyd's "no catchweights" policy and Id rather see it be for the middleweight title.
He didnt call him out, going by this seems a reporter asked about the offer Martinez made, and Floyd said it could happen.

Didn't you post this already? It's funny how the people with boxing knowledge get banned but trolls get to stay on.

I agree. Not a good idea at all.

Now this is what I'm talking about. If someone challenges you at a certain weight that's not the same as making them come down to a weight to your advantage. Sergio made the challenge and Floyd is responding to it. There has to be a middle ground for a middle-wt champion to face a welter-wt champion especially when the middle-wt is calling the welter-wt out. "Let's Go Team Money May" :-)

Unfortunately, Sergio is the one who suggested he'd be willing to go down that far for the fight. Not only that, but Mayweather is the one in a position to make demands... Martinez understands this and would possibly take this out of pride and honor since his dream is to fight for the p4p title. I think Sergio is very impressive at 154..but 150? With all the bulk he's put on since the p will fight? I don't know..how much power does he lose? How much of his amazing stamina/pace would be lost? Martinez IS indeed a slick, unorthodox fighter, but we've seen him man up and take the risks and get hit to get his in (Pavlik fight for instance). Ortiz was at 165 I believe for the Floyd fight..but he's young and can do those big cuts..what we don't know though is how easily Martinez is able to cut? DOES he even cut weight? I heard he was walking around 157 ish or so not too long ago (on an article)..so if he's really not cutting for 160, 154 would be nothing, and 150 would require a small cut and relatively no change in training.

Still..150 is pushing it for Floyd's credibility...but come on..does anyone REALLY think if Pac fought Martinez at 154 it'd even be a contest? Floyd is on the same boat at 154, and puts himself in possible one punch ko danger. Floyd most likely takes Pac's lefts like nothing (just like JMM did..)..but Martinez is a big puncher at 160...and he's under sized.. I'd pay to watch it, but wouldn't be surprised if SM loses some pop at 150 or tires earlier. Martinez doesn't seem the type to be discouraged or lose his head if he keeps getting tagged.

See, if Pac loses to Floyd, they can just rematch and make a lot more money...but what happens if they get beat by Martinez?

EDIT: One other thing of note is that Martinez basically advertises himself as a 154 pounder who can't get a fight, so fights at 160..so if we look at it in his point of view..does he consider it a cut from 160 to 150..or 154 to 150? If so, Floyd has some balls to challenge Martinez and meet him in the middle

I'm one of the biggest Floyd fans you'll find, but I wouldn't be able to give Floyd full credit if it was @ anything less than 154. Martinez coming down a weight class & Floyd going up a weight class is a fair & equal compromise. However, unlike Manny, is it not Floyd who is requesting the CW here so he could possibly get a pass...especially if he leaves out the re-hydration clause (like Manny gave De La Hoya).
