Comments Thread For: A Heavyweight Gamble in NBC's New Boxing Series

This coming Saturday night marks the debut of a new boxing series on U.S. airwaves. The NBC Sports cable outlet can be assumed to aspire to compete one day with ESPN. For now, it’s enough that it provides a new platform for fistiana. The first main event was originally to pit a former Heavyweight beltholder, Sergiy Liakhovich, and a former title challenger, Eddie Chambers.

I don't know the 2 never-heard -of's but wish them luck in the least-talented & most boring division in boxing...thank goodness a decent semi, now we just have to put up w/ BJ (fraud) Flores as a comentator...

i will watch the heavyweights but its a far cry from liahkovich\chambers. it is an opportunity to get national recognition for both prospects.

It is 10 times better seeing two undefeated heavyweights fight than the snore-bore liahkovich\chambersfight. Those two had their chances and failed. Time to see some new talent that could possibly make some noise over a snore-bore fight. Cannot believe NBC would even attempt to put on liahkovich\chambers. Didn't liahkovich get knocked out recently???

And didn't liahkovich lose 3 out of his last 5 fights??? Come on, doesn't NBC have a little more money to at least put up a show equal to ESPN?

I hope this wont be another American Heavyweight hug feast for 10 rounds. NBC Sports network is taking a huge camble in airing no name heavyeights, although they have undefeated records against D level comp. Hopefully these fighters will come in the ring in decent shape and i hope there will fight instead of looking ay each other for 10 rounds.
