Showtime said they want Bute to fight Ward or at worst BHop.

But if these won't happen, Bute can fight whoever he wants and they will skip it. They are paying Bute 1.2 mil per fight for 3 fights, but Bute could have made 6 mil in the 2 Froch fights, so they have no power to put their foot down.

A former Golden Boy attorney named Stephen Espinoza. Trying to get Hopkins a money fight while avoiding Dawson it seems. Everyone should realize that Ward won't fight Bute. Can't believe Showtime is this ***ing ******.

Ward won't fight Bute? What a joke.

It's the other way around and everyone knows it. Bute has done nothing but beat up tomato cans while Ward fought in the S6.

Now Bute expects Ward to give into his every demand as far as location, purpse split, co-promotion, etc etc.

He basically threw up half a dozen roadblocks to a Ward fight before negotiations could even begin.

Well a fight against a GOOD AMERICAN FIGHTER would really help Bute get more exposure...IN AMERICA!

I would rather see him fight one of the Dirrell Brothers

Location. Really men? Bute said his willing to go to Oakland. How that for location. The rest were never discussed because apparently Ward believes Bute is not worthy enough, I could only wander who's more willing since the only answer is tight up with Stieglitz.

Bute "says" a lot of things. However his own promoter has gone on record saying the fight would have to be in New York, which would almost make it a home fight for Bute as it is a relatively short drive from Montreal to NYC.

It's not that Ward doens't think Bute is worthy. It has more to do with the fact that he wants no part of a negotiation with someone who has done nothing the past 3 years but is going to expect to get his way on every issue.

Anyone who believes Bute would actually sign a contract to go to Oakland is smoking some serious stuff.

Not worried simply about Ward going to HBO but worried about the Ward-Bute fight specifically going to HBO.

Showtime only has Lucian for 1 more fight. If they don't force the Ward fight and let him fight another average opponent then he will be free of Showtime and at the peak of his popularity.

HBO at that point would probably be ready and willing to throw more cash at Ward-Bute than Showtime can match.

It would leave Showtime in the embarrassing position of having paid both men handsomely for years now with the express intent to match them up, only to lose that fight to HBO at the 11th hour.

                      no surprise

these guys are getting too big to get carried regularly on these networks. not in big fights one after the other at least.

they do not have infinite budgets

fights like that serious cut into your spending for the remainder of the year
