Comments Thread For: Hearn: Froch-Bute Must Have UK Return, Other Paths Eyed

Eddie Hearn is standing firm on behalf of Carl Froch as negotiations continue with Lucian Bute over a two-legged showdown between the two super-middleweights. IBF boss Bute contacted Froch after the ‘The Cobra’ lost the Super Six final to Andre Ward, the French-Canadian’s team have offered Froch an April 14th date in Montreal only for Hearn to insist that any deal must include a UK return unless there is a shutout or KO in the first leg.

Look like Bute's going to duck again.

Two fight deal in both guys hometown is fair enough.

Like Hearn says - put something in the contract that if there's a knockout within 6 rounds or somebody wins the fight by a wide margin on all 3 cars then no rematch.

Otherwise, two fight deal is a great - and both guys will pull bumper crowds, so money wise it makes sense, as the saying goes - if it makes money it makes sense!

Unless hometown Bute decides to duck fighting away again...

Lucian, sign the contract fast before Froch do like Kessler, Ward, Pavlik and run away from you. Rush out to the lawyer Lucian.

One fight in a neutral venue like Las Vagas would be better. Hearn knows that if it goes to points in Canada regardless of who won Bute gets the nod. That is why there is the weird rematch clause.
I see Bute not wanting to travel at all . I would love to see this fight but I don't think it is going to be made.

Find me one bad decision involving a local fighter in Quebec. I'm waiting, Einstein.

Some posters on another forum are already saying it's not fair because the first fight is in Montreal. First, the Bell Center will be packed by 20 000 people in April, compared to 8 000 in Notingham. Froch likes money like any other boxer. Second, the return fight would be outdoor this summer. That way, Froch can make more money. Finally, if Bute wins at home and Froch wins at home, who gets the belt? Got it, champs, Froch would have the belt. To finish home is better, if you manage to be competitive in the first fight, of course.
