Had Floyd taken Marg instead, Floyd wouldn't have gotten the Oscar fight, and only would have gotten it on Arum's terms, but Arum wasn't interested in helping Floyd after Floyd fought Margarito, so Floyd had to contract himself fight by fight with GBP basically from then on.

He only fought Baldomir because the De La Hoya fight fell through. It was supposed to be in 2006, which that's why Floyd left Top Rank. Arum didn't want to do business with DLH, because he was bitter about DLH leaving him.

When DLH chose to get a belt, the WBC belt, against Mayorga in 06, Floyd had nobody to fight except Baldomir. A fight against ANY Top Rank fighter was out of the question, since Arum and Floyd recently went through an ugly break up through court. Arum got really emotional and started the Mayweather-Cotto/Margarito smear campaign.

And Arum wouldn't onnly give Floyd something like 8 million for fights with Hatton, Cotto, and Oscar. The same amount he made vs Baldi or would have made vs Margarito.

            Smh.

Or he could have fought Margarito and then bought out his contract and then fight Oscar.

No Arum never offered him an extension.

Floyd never asked for one. Or he could have fought him in August before the deadline. The fight was offer for August it was also offered in April of that year. Floyd ducked Marg it is what it is. It turned out better for him anyways.

The buyout window wasn't very large. Where does it say that he could have fought Margarito and then bought out the contract for the Oscar fight?
