Nah, he outboxed a two legged undefeated(tho untested...like alvarez) boxer, his knee unfortunately gave out from all the movement in the fight, and it was over. And he comfortably outboxed mayorga and margarito. Yet somehow, that is a knock on cotto.Cotto won against a one legged C rated boxer and survived against a come-forward brawler.
He has no chance against Floyd now.
Maybe back before The first Margarito fight, but right now, Floyd will just humiliate him.
Sry but this match is wayyyy over due than PAC-May.
Also, it's pathetic to see Floyd actually consider Cotto at this point.
He's flaming PAC for fighting leftovers but here he is fighting one himself.
Lets put it this way, margarito would be canelos toughest opponent to date...thats pretty sad.Comment

I've been telling people both these points for 3 years. If there's one thing "boxing fans" have taught me it's that people are willing to ignore the truth if it doesn't comply with their opinions and beliefs. The thought process is "I don't like Mayweather, therefore every bad thing someone says about him must be true".You guys are bugging with this Floyd ducked Cotto talk. That's fan talk right there. Bob Arum hid Cotto from Floyd at 140 and even said Cotto wasn't ready to take on Floyd or Hatton at 140 and that he had to keep winning. Cotto was at the Gatti fight along with Hatton because they were possible opponents and after the Gatti fight Floyd moved up to 147 because there was no good fights for him at 140 because Hatton nor Cotto wanted to fight him. you dudes don't know anything except for being a fan of a fighter. Cotto has earned my respect over the years but he has absolutely nothing that would trouble Floyd and never has. Dude been rocked and wobbled in all of his major fights against guys less accurate and defensive than Mayweather. You guys are smoking with the Cotto/Margarito talk for YEARS. Arum made that ducking thing up like he is doing with Pac. Bob didn't want to pay Floyd the money he wanted or give him Oscar De La Hoya and that's why Margarito and Cotto didn't happen.
Mayweather goes to court for allegedly assaulting his exgirlfriend-"Gayweather is a woman basher, stop ducking PacMan and fight someone who hits back."
Pacquiao has 2 children to **********s and has an affair with an actress-"These are lies made up to damage Manny's image, Manny is a good humble man, shame on you for disrespecting him."
Arum books the MGM arena for the 13th of November 2010 and creates the "Money Mayweather Deadline", giving Floyd to the 16th of July to respond.-"You are such a ducker Fraud Gayweather, Arum has organised everything all you have to do is say yes. Stop being scared of PacMan!!!"
Mayweather books the MGM arena for May 5th 2012 and calls out Pacquiao-"Mayweather is trying to have everything his own way. Why does it have to be on May 5th, why not late May or July? This is not the proper way to conduct negotiations, Mayweather is trying to dictate everything."
Mayweather legally cheapshots Ortiz- "You are such a chicken Floyd, you only win by cheating. You knew Ortiz had a shot of beating you so you sucker punched him. You're a disgrace to boxing."
Ortiz deliberately headbutts Mayweather-"Ummmmmm... Fraud Gayweather is a woman bashing coward. Stop hiding Floyd. Uhhhhhhhhhh, Oritz only headbutted you because you were......uhhhhhhh... because you were.....uhhhh... cheating as well. Yeah Floyd, you've been cheating your whole career, you have no legacy. F**k you Floyd you coward."
Honestly, the way people's personal opinions get in the way of their judgment is disgusting.
Completely agree with your post except for the bolded.I am telling you. These guys wish Cotto was a challenge for Floyd. Cotto has and never had tight defense, can't switch up his game plan during a match and gets discouraged under pressure. Sorry guys but inorder to beat Floyd you have to out think him and Cotto has never been one to adjust. Cotto's strengths is when a fighter tries to exchange with him, opening up and giving up opportunities. We all witnessed once he started fighting more durable opponents that his big punch was taken away. Cotto could not even out box Pac and people expect him to do it and beat Floyd? Man, I know guys would love to see Mayweather lose but it ain't happening with the guys at WW now. Only person I give a shot at making it difficult is Sergio Martinez at 154 because he is technical and can switch up his game plan to get the win AND he thinks in the ring AND he has 1 KO punch power, is fast and a south paw. Cotto gets murked.
First, you won't ever hear me say that Cotto is a defensive master, and certainly for most of his career defence hasn't been his strong point, but since the Pacquiao loss and the move to LMW imo Cotto's defence has looked better. I know Margarito's punches are neither accurate or fast, but in the rematch I'd go as far to say that Cotto's defence looked excellent, it seems as if his decision to bring in a Cuban amateur coach was a smart move.
Although his defence will never be at Mayweather/Whitaker level, imo it's improved enough that Pacquiao would be in for a tougher fight if a rematch happens (though I still think Pacquiao would win).
Second, from what I saw Cotto never tried to outbox Pacquiao. Cotto went in looking to impose his size and power on the much smaller Pacquiao, but after he got dropped in the forth the ghosts of the Margarito fight returned and he was a deer in the headlights for the rest of the fight. Had Cotto decided to stick and move against Pacquiao like he did in the Margarito rematch I think it would've been a much less one-sided matchup (though, like above, I still think Pacquiao would've won).
But apart from those 2 points your post speaks a lot of truth.Comment

It was Cotto all along. The always-candid Floyd Mayweather Sr. was spotted at Johnny Tocco's in Las Vegas, Nevada, working with standout amateur Kevin Newman. Mayweather Sr. can be a private type of person but is also known for delivering some unique sounds bites whenever he decides to open up.
