Cotto has a better chance in a Pacman return than a Floyd fight IMO. He'd have to be a better pressure fighter to get to Floyd. Washed up Oscar for 6 rounds or Castillo have done it best. Ortiz had a chance but he blew it by being scared to fight. Cotto would rather look good and lose than look bad and win. Duno if he would be prepared to go through the pain anymore.
Having watched the Ortiz fights many times, including last night thanks to DVR it was apparent that Ortiz started getting reluctant to exchange because Floyd was walking him into shots he couldn't see coming, the worse kind of punch to get hit with repeatedly, and when Ortiz realized he couldn't box with Floyd thats when he went all out and tried to overwhelm floyd but he knew by then that floyd was a different kind of fighter and he couldn't win, hence we had the headbutt. I can see Cotto also attempting to box with floyd being that he's the shorter man but he'd in all likelyhood lose a one sided UD taking that route..

So? Gatti would hae gotten KO'd by Cotto as well, Gatti was never in the same league boxing wise as Cotto is. Gatti can't box, he can fight, and brawl.

@Grustler, Cotto does think and knows how to switch things up in the ring, and now look at who he is training with. You forget, he had no trainer for like 3 fights. Cotto outboxed Pac for four rounds in their fight, he lost bc he tried to KO Pac, plus his balance was gone, had no trainer. Cotto has timing and hits hard, I don't know if he will still be able to apply the pressure he needs to beat Floyd, but pre-Margarito Cotto could have did. You don't give Cotto credit. Foreman never had one leg. Cotto boxed great and his movement made Yuri *** his leg up, it never did before in any previous pro fight he had. Cotto was supposed to lose that fight too.

Cotto has enough power to break Floyd down, and good decent pressure. Yes his defense is not great, but because he goes to the attack. Also, his precision and ring smarts are good enough to get into Floyd, and his handspeed is not bad, actually better than what 80% of people say, PLUS he has a great jab. If Cotto fights smart, and can break Floyd down in the early rounds, Cotto wins easy. But if Floyd avoids those bombs and lands jabs to keep Cotto away the whole fight, he can win on points.

I dont care if Floyd can UD, toy with or school Cotto. I've never seen Cotto in a boring fight and thats what matter to us who pay to watch them. Floyd wins the fight, but it wont be as disappointing as Ortiz.

Anyone who thinks Cotto would beat Floyd needs to switch to another sport. They must be Pac fans as well who know nothing about boxing. Cotto is a good fighter with heart, I respect him, but he would be outclassed by Floyd. Arum kept Cotto away from Floyd at JWW when Cotto was at his best and most destructive so you really think Cotto can beat Floyd now? Not a chance. Cotto would lose a UD hands down and end up with a bloody face for his troubles.
