  • Like a lot of you I have watched boxing for many years and one thing that I learned long ago is that styles make fights and in boxing every fighter is just one punch away from victory or defeat. This doesnt just apply to people in this thread stating that no way no how can Cotto beat Floyd but across the board I see it constantly. Remember when a faded fat shell of his former self in Roberto Duran beat Iran Barkley at 168lbs? People said no way. Sugar Ray Leonard comes back after eye surgery and a long layoff to beat one of my personal favorites in Hagler. This is boxing don't forget that as your making your very confident predictions.

If we added "anyone has a chance" to every match up we thought of, we would never have discussions that are worth while.

You are right, any one has a chance to win but that's not in the context of what we are discussing.

Cotto would be a huge underdog, should be an underdog and I don't think has much of a chance vs Pac or Mayweather. Does he have a chance? Sure, like I would have a chance in winning the lottery.

      • canelo..... i like this fight, would be a good scrap! toss up, i feel like miguel would win based on two things, experience and the fact that canelo got wobbled by jose cotto. i would assume that miguel is the stronger of the two (him and his bro) and if he were to connect the same way it would be lights out i think. but would be a good fight.

So this is what a true fan of the sport does now ?

Waits til kingdom come for Pac/Maywether. [ which in my mind is an overrated showdown. ]

Doesn't shell out any ppv cash for intriguing matchups involving Miguel Cotto [God knows shelling out $64 for an hd broadcast is a rip off in itself ]

You see I get it if you don't want dish out your hard earned cash for a so called superfight. [most of them are flops anyway]

Maybe you should just buy that lotto ticket, root for the underdog and enjoy a good fight. Save your criticism till they're warranted. You'd think you would've learned a lil something from the Pac/Marquez fight ?

          • Canelo, Pacquiao (No CWs), or Mayweather. Great options.

I said Canelo. Come on, let's make it happen.
              Agree 100%

Canelo is young, powerful, and confident.

Cotto is more skilled, as powerful, and equally confident.

An excellent match- and maybe even the match to cap Cotto's career if he wins.

It's amazing what a different gameplan can do. Would I favor Cotto? No, but Cotto can box well and he can do what Marquez did while still applying pressure, it did work for him for 4 rounds. I know your are just a straight up Cotto hater and will just say I'm a nuthugger, blah blah blah, but Cotto has REDEEMED one loss, he only has two on his record. He CAN get another Manny shot, but I'd rather see him fight Mayweather simply because it would be Floyds hardest fight other than Manny.

                1.I'm not a Cotto hater
2.Cotto can't do what Marquez did
3.If he could he would've done it in the first fight.
4.The toughest challenge for Mayweather would be Martinez.
5.Cotto gets stopped by Pacquiao and humiliated by Mayweather
6.His knee will touch the canvas if he fights either.

                    • I wish it was Canelo or any other top 154er (Kirkland, even Lara, etc.). Looking at TR's 154 stable and knowing how Arum does business, it seems Cotto's only options at TR are Clottey II or Pacquiao II. I hope to god Cotto leaves TR and joins GB who have an extensive, world-class 154 line-up. Being realistic we'll probably be seeing Cotto-Pacquiao II with Cotto retiring shortly after.
