Chavez Jr vs. Rubio is a legit fight

I don't like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr either, but his fight against Rubio is very legit. Rubio is a top Middleweight contender. Yes, Julio is hiding behind his promoter Bob Arum in regards to a Sergio Martinez fight and seems to be "ducking" Sergio. But, Marco Antonio Rubio presents a threat to Chavez Jr. He hasn't lost in over a few years, is still a pretty good fighter, and is coming off a pretty solid win over Lemieux. Rubio has more than a punchers shot at beating Julio, he has a pretty good shot. Lets not forget that Zbik took Chavez Jr to the cards and nearly won a tight decision over him.

Yes, Julio should fight Sergio, but Rubio is a legitimate defense.

While I like watching a fight where I am rooting hard for the guy I really like, I really enjoy watching a fight where I could give a f**kless who wins. Chavez-Rubio is that fight for me.

I think Julio is going to TKO him. Yes, Rubio is legit, a good fighter, probably better than nayone else Julio has fought, but Rubio does seem to gas a bit int he middle rounds. Lemieux may have proved to be overrated, but we'll see.

I am picking Chavez by TKO in 9.

I'm not a Rubio fan by any stretch of the imagination and I'm not a Chavez Jr hater, I think he sucks but he puts butts in seats which is good for the sport. I just like watching journeymen upset overhyped fighters, it's very satisfying.

Well said. JCC should either give up the belt or fight Martinez, but that's boxing politics and as usual is bullshlt.

However, in terms of gradually stepping up quality of opposition, this is a reasonable matchup for Chavez. I'm gonna laugh my ass off if JCC turns out to actually be the goods. Lotta' folks are wanting him to fail and that is looking increasingly unlikely.

Good fiGHT, BUT Chavez is still a bonified duck, but I do like him more than I like Canelo. He's actually fighting fighters with heartbeats.

You cant have a legitimate title defense if you never won the title. Chavez is the fakest champion in boxing history and rubio ain't *****. Pavlik whooped that ass years ago.

Probably a decent bet, and that seems like the fight would be how Pavlik fought Rubio, but Rubio has a lot of power.

Chavez will have to be on his p's and q's for this fight.

Rubio's knocked out 46 guys not all them bums either. He can punch.

If he can get Chavez attention early, it could change how Chavez fights this and how active he will be.
