Former champion Jorge Linares (31-2, 20KOs) has found himself in line for two possible championship opportunities. Linares last fought in October for the vacant WBC title. He was well ahead on the official cards, 98-92, 99-91 and 98-92, but his opponent Antonio DeMarco (26-2, 19KOs) rallied in the eleventh round to get a stoppage victory. In December, the WBC issues an order which allows DeMarco to make an optional defense, but then he must grant Linares a rematch.
