As far as people predicting the winner's of fight's and getting owned, I'm up there. Actually picked Cintron to beat Margarito in the rematch, but I do have a excuse on that one. The other, was Pavlik vs. B-Hop. It happen's.

Im a big Cotto fan but its hard to pick against Floyd who I have seen typically dominate his opponents but also find a way to overcome when trouble finds him early(Mosley wobbling the hell out of him). That said I do see some kinks in that Defense and a few glimmers of hope in this one for Cotto, here's why:
Floyd showed in his fight against Oscar that a good power jab can not only land on him but also seemed to disrupt his entire offense. Cotto at this stage has a far better and more damaging jab than Oscar used on Floyd in their fight. That one punch could make or break the fight.
Floyd's recent opponents have been guys who have thrown a lot of wide punches he's going to face a fighter in Cotto who throws in combination with short straight accurate and damaging punches. Not that Floyd isnt a master of making adjustments but he will need to do that.
Cotto has shown that the absolute worst style for him to face is pressure fighter with pop. Money is a lot of things offensively but he is not a pressure fighter at least not one that takes away your space till you crack.
Floyd had a lot going on now , problems that are concrete and steel bars looming over the horizon. I dont care what he says thats a major distraction. Not good for a guy who will face the best quality fighter I think of his career.
The best way for Cotto to approach beating Mayweather is to use patience and his jab to infilict damage on Floyd and try to win rounds while doing so.
I think this fight will be closer than some think and I'm pulling for Cotto but If you put a gun to my head I can't pick against Mayweather I see him maybe grabbing a decision.

No credit whatsoever. And if this fight happens, Mayweather will lose a loyal fan in me. I'm hoping your sources are wrong, comedian. **** fight, always has been, always will be. Canelo beats Cotto right now at 154, Ortiz and Berto beat Cotto at 147. I wouldn't even be surprised if Guerrero makes it competetive before getting stopped by Cotto.
I'm down for Canelo, Berto-Ortiz winner, or Martinez.
If the fight happens, I would 100 percent root for Cotto to win and hopefully retire Floyd. But unfortunately Cotto does not have the tools to beat Floyd, let alone retire him. I will join the Floyd hating parade if this fight happens. Unlike Pacfans, I can not stand any fighter fighting his rivals leftovers, and washed fighters who don't even stand a chance in hell.

I don't think it's much of a win at this point, and I have just enough respect for Cotto's toughness to say he goes the distance but gets completely outclassed.
Anyone thinking Cotto has much a chance beyond the chance ANY fighter has getting in the ring, they are fooling themselves.Last edited by bojangles1987; 01-08-2012, 07:52 AM.

I don't know why people are making the 05-07 Cotto look like some bad ass. The Cotto who isaw getting rocked around and caught by silly punches against Corley and Torres, letting a broken jawed Malignaggi come back to make the fight competetive, and almost losing against an underdog Shane Mosley, is the same Cotto who fought Marg twice, Pac, Foreman and Mayorga. Stop making him out to be what he was not. He was never a great fighter. He was always a okay fighter who was in a couple of wars with mediocre fighters who he ended up stopping, which led people to like him. He is Arturo Gatti with no heart and no chin. He will get Gatti'd by Floyd on May 5th. It was okay for Floyd to fight a fighter like Gatti in 05, when people knew Floyd was very good but some had there doubts. Now a lot of people whether they like it or not, know he's an ATG, while Cotto is barely even HOF bound.

Not sure why you would dog a fight against Cotto, but prefer a fight against guys(other than Martinez) who have just as much chance to beat Mayweather as Cotto does, little to none.
The last statement is so laughable, it's sad. Do you realize Hagler, Leonard, Duran, Hearns, wouldn't be mentioned amongst some of the greats if they didn't fight their rivals "leftovers". So you're telling us you can't stand any of those guys either?

I'd rather him fight James Kirkland than Cotto.
Cotto is done at this point. I don't want to see it.
But, I would ultimately prefer Mayweather to fight and stay active and I'd much rather him fight Cotto than Guerrero or Alvarez.
So, if I had to pick, it would be Cotto.
At the same time, it does nothing for his legacy at this point.
