Does it make sense to hold a mega PPV fight on the same night as someone else who actually IS a Mexican superstar? No, it doesn't...disrespectful to Mexicans or not, you are losing a ton of money by doing that. Mexicans could give two craps about Floyd, lol, they care a whole lot about Canelo doe.

It's just common sense, move it back or up by a few weeks and get this thing rolling. Floyd always fights some type of Hispanic on that date......because the opponent helps sell the fight.

Its a reason to get out of fight. Everyone knew it was target date. Canelo even keeps mentioning floyd fight when he speaks of the date. Oscar too.

Thurs May 2 no issue, fri floyd says lets fight, sat may 2 issue cause it disrespects mexicans. Common sense tells you Arum looking for way out.

I dont care about date either. The excuse is what bugs me.

Not because floyd mentioned money, showtime, location, testing, or anything old. Its the date now.

And as mexican and canelo fan i would prefer floyd v pac.

Floyd vs PAC is the biggest fight in boxing and has been for years. If they can (big if) make the fight they wouldn't be losing anything because Canelo and co. would be the ones who would have to switch dates.. Canelo could fight the ghost of Salvador Sanchez and it wouldn't matter.

That's actually not true. Mexican boxing fans would much rather see Floyd Vs Manny then Canelo against however. Canelo Vs Cotto will not even do close to 1 mil. It would problably do 700buys at best.

Right, I'm not defending Arum, just saying that neither guy is Hispanic so if Canelo-Cotto want that date, let em have it. If I was in charge of putting this together, I'd obviously want to maximize the profits and having two non-Hispanic boxers fight on a traditional Hispanic fight night is a dumb ass idea, especially when there is likely going to be some type of collaborative effort between HBO and Showtime to make it happen to begin with.

Showtime will obviously want to capitalize on the Canelo-Cotto fight and there is no reason why Floyd HAS to fight on that weekend or that night specifically.

I can see Canelo-Cotto moving if Showtime and HBO weren't going to work together to make the Floyd-Pac fight happen. I was getting at the fact that the only reason Floyd has been fighting on that date is because he always fights a Hispanic opponent which obviously isn't the case this time.

Why doesn't anyone answer my question...

Why would Floyd say it has to be a showtime only PPv, when showtime has no problem working woth hbo, and it has no effect on Floyd's paycheck..

              Why would Floyd say that?

Exactly. If you would to give Mexican boxing fans the option of two fights in May one being option A(Floyd Vs Manny), they would chose option A with out giving a rat's aZZ about who or what option B is.

                      You are wrong.

Why would Arum go thru the trouble of having talks with the CEO of CBS and others then?

The logic presented by you Floyd fans doesn't even make any sense. If Canelo vs Cotto is announced for May 2nd then what? Floyd will still fight on May 2nd? No! Floyd would have to concede and move to another date. You should agree thus far.

So then there is still the opportunity for a fight between Manny and Floyd on another date. So what is the big deal? Nothing to blame on Arum. The fight can still be made since Floyd needs an opponent. So does Manny.
