    Grade Juan Manuel Marquez' resume

After officially looking back at the resume's I have posted of each, here's how my grades stand:

    Mayweather: B
    Pacquiao: B/B+
    Jones: B
    De La Hoya: B/B+

    Juan Manuel Marquez notable resume:

    1998: Juan Gerardo Cabrera (32-3)- W TKO4
    1998: Francisco Arreola (29-2-2)- W TKO3
    1999: Freddie Norwood (35-0-1)- L UD12
2003: Manuel Medina (60-12)- W TKO7 (Won vacant IBF Featherweight title)
2003: Derrick Gainer (39-5-1)- W TD7 (Won vacant WBA Featherweight title)
    2004: Manny Pacquiao (38-2-1)- D SD12
    2004: Orlando Salido (23-8-2)- W UD12
    2005: Victor Polo (37-4)- W UD12
    2006: Chris John (36-0-1)- L UD12
2007: Marco Antonio Barrera (63-4)- W UD12 (Won WBC Super Featherweight title)
    2007: Rocky Juarez (27-3)- W UD12
    2008: Manny Pacquiao (45-3-2)- L SD12
    2008: Joel Casamayor (38-3)- W TKO11
2009: Juan Diaz (34-1)- W TKO9 (Won vacant WBO and WBA Lightweight titles)
    2009: Floyd Mayweather Jr. (39-0)- L UD12
    2010: Juan Diaz (35-3)- W UD12
    2010: Michael Katsidis (27-2)- W TKO9
    2011: Manny Pacquiao (53-3-2)- L MD12

A lot of close fights, a lot of controversies. He was pretty much robbed against Norwood and John, there's no other way to put it. And he had big controversies with Manny Pacquiao 3 time now, and the 2nd fight is the one I think he definitely won without a doubt, as do many. But, it is what it is. Taking all that into account, I can go absolutely no higher than a B-/B. He only beat a past prime Barrera and came up close against Pacquiao. Yes, he should have Chris John on his winning resume, but he was robbed.

    What do you think???

    Not fantastic.

Only really has a handful of good wins outside of the Pacquaio fights.

I felt he won the second Pacquaio fight and I definitely felt he won the 3rd one so with that unoffical win it takes his resume grades higher.

His resume is artificially inflated from the gift draw he receivd against pacquiao in the first fight:

ive scored all 3 pacquiao fights as follows:

      1) 115-110
      2) 115-112
      3) 116-112

All for pacquiao, who has grown from a 1 handed fighter in the 1st fight to a very technically sound fighter today.

Outside of pac and floyd fights [which were all losses], ive probaly never even heard of any of the names on his resume.

          Barrera B

          Diaz B+
          Diaz 2 C-
          Katsidis C+

That's how I would rate his most notable wins. His resume is pretty average, but listen to him and his fans and they will tell you otherwise.

BTW I don't count moral victories or those so called robberies. Each of those fights (Norwood, John and Pacquiao I,II & III) he lost fair and square. For whatever reason his fans count all five of those in some wack attempt to boost his resume/career.

          Overall, I grade his career a C/C+

                  Juan Manuel Marquez Resume: B.

JMM fought Pac 3x in Pac's prime and possibly won all 3 fights. That alone should be enough for an A.

However, I was not impressed with JMM's win over MAB. That was too close. And the loss to Chris John hurts (even though it was questionable).

Man, if he gets the nod in even one of those Pac fights, he jumps extremely high, and if he had all three the last ten years of boxing would be unrecognizable.

His career has taken a great jump lately, since the second Pacquiao fight when he moved up to lightweight. The fighters he beat haven't been great, but they've been impressive because of the weight and the way Marquez has been winning. I'd say a solid B but I couldn't go higher than that. Maybe a B-.
