Sinaloakid, Martinez was the mandatory. That goes above #1 contender. Martinez waited for him, they put a purse bid, it was demanded by the wbc (they've obviously taken their word back...), etc. Martinez went to 160 for said challenges and fought the man who beat the man. Martinez has had to bulk up significantly to make the weight. To put it in perspective, Margariti was about as big as Martinez on fight night, Ortiz was also as big as a fight night Martinez. Bear in mind Martinez's age. I think Pirog is great, but why would Martinez (the recognized king of a division) fly to Russia and fight a literal unknown who's as dangerous as can be? He cant even get a decision in America, imagine Canada (Bute) or Russia/Germany for Sturm and Pirog. He'd probably kO sturm but Pirog is a young beast who needs to earn a Martinez shot imo. Martinez wants to fight jcc jr off principle, not as this omg challenge. The challenge is for Mayweather, who he sees as the best in the world. I also recall an article saying Martinez doesn't see himself fighting after 40, which leaves him with very little time left to elevate his legacy without big fights he's clearly earned. Beating Pirog at this stage does nothing for him yet.

On a side note, the guys at 168 need to sort themselves out (Ward-Bute) before any other talk even resumes.

I'd like to see Martinez back at his normal weight and fight a guy like Kirkland, or Ortiz (if he runs through Berto again) at a catchweight since Ortiz is massive. Maybe lead into a Canelo fight if he hasn't lost by then. If rubio wins against jcc jr, that's also a nice fight. Hating aside, that jcc jr and rubio fight is going to be great!

chavez/rubio should be good as well, hope rubio wins but doubt it. as for this whole mess, both are at 160 and with chavez facing rubio, i think it'll be safe to say he'd be decent enough to have a martinez fight after that. he's ranked higher than pirog and has almost as twice as much professional fights as barker. if he loses, he lost to the best in the division and p4p no.3 fighter in the world. it's not like chavez will stay undefeated forever. might as well take on the biggest challenge around and prove you have the balls to fight anyone anytime, and if you come up short, learn from the experience. he has a decent chin and i doubt martinez lays him out like he did williams.
after that, it'd be nice to see sturm give his title up to golovkin or pirog and martinez can negotiate a fight with them, if the money is right for both sides.

If Sergio was a natural 154 pound fight, he would have fought Dzindz there, rather than risk fighting at a weight he isn't "comfortable", or "natural" at. . . After the Pavlik fight, he could have went back down to 154, effectively remaining the WBC champion in the class. . .

Regardless, the Macklin fight could be entertaining, it will give Sergio a chance to showcase his abilities. . . Martinez by 8th round TKO. Chavez vs. Rubio should have some good two-way action at some points, but Chavez's stamina, punch resistance, and size will enable him to outwork Rubio down the stretch. . .

After that, just make the best fights at whatever weight possible. Pirog is still a much better fight, and much more evenly matched skill wise than martinez vs. chavez jr. . . Sergio just wants the paydays. . .

no, by the time the dzinziruk fight came around, martinez had already had his last three fights at MW (albeit the last one at a catchweight). and the wbo (sergei's 154 belt) just stripped martinez at 160, i doubt he'd want to go down to fight for another one of their straps. and i doubt dzinziruk had any serious problems moving up in weight. they both weighed in at the same exact weight and i don't remember but i doubt they were that far apart on fight night. dumb excuse.
after beating pavlik, why would he give up the ring, wbc, and wbo middleweight belts for one wbc interim belt?
if chavez wins, seeing as they probably will count rubio as his mando, he won't have to face martinez for another two fights. and i never said a chavez fight is better than a pirog fight, all i said was that if chavez defeats rubio, then he pretty much proves himself worthy of being matched up against any top guy at MW, including martinez.

What risk are you talking about? If both Dzinziruk and Martinez are natural 154 pounders, what risk is there in having their fight at 160? The only difference is that it would be easier to make weight. Did Pacquiao risk anything by fighting JMM at 144 even thought he could easily make 140?
