So, we should just forget that he clearly and handily beat Kessler, Green, Abraham, and Froch???

There's nothing wrong with Lucian Bute fighting Carl Froch next and Andre Ward fighting Andre Dirrell next. Dirrell is back and looked pretty solid a week ago.

Lucian hasn't beat an A level SMW (Ward, Froch, Kessler, Abraham), he just hasn't. Lucian's best wins were Mendy (probably a B level guy) and Johnson (C level at this point). Johnson had lost 3 of his last 5 going into his fight with Bute.

Andre Ward is a credit to the sport of boxing in my opinion, I wasn't always convinced, particularly with his style in some fights, but now I am.
Some of he factual points made in the article are true but the opinions and thinly veiled contempt toward Ward drawn from them is not something I can agree with.
Bika wasn't part of the tournament for one and it was a brave and commendable decision by Ward to take that fight, Bika being a handful and headfull for any SMW.
Again I will say Andre Ward is a credit to the sport of boxing. His abilities and his attitude are to be admired and appreciated for what he has achieved and how he conducts himself.
Hometown or not not he beat Kessler, Abraham and Froch all handily, none of the fights were close and he won fair and square. That is something that looking back very few in the industry and fans alike saw happening but memories are short and selective. The two Andre's were mostly seen as wild cards at best at the beginning of the tournament. It is not easy what he did and ridiculous to pass off as gifted to him to any degree.
He is a worthy champion and one who has done it in a first of its kind type of harder "the hard way". There are no other current or former Champs that can say they got their belts by committing to fight that many A+ fighters and champions consecutively without tune ups or lay offs to get where they are.

Andre Ward, congratulations. Detractors, well some things are never enough to convince some people but in the history of the sport Ward has achieved a milestone whether that is excepted by some or not I don't care but the man has my unreserved respect and admiration and I wish him all the best for the future.

        ward the fraud

i cant believe boxing fans who know the truth about a fighter's style, but keep defending him, based on his race or nationality.andre ward should tryout for ufc mixed martial arts.show me a fight where anyone can beg to differ.he was allowed to foul time after time again, against green, but no points were taken.i can understand it when a ref is bought off.but not a boxing fan.smarten up boys.i wont be giving this class for free all the time.like i was just saying about the refs, everybody's got bills.

Far be it from me to defend illegal tactics but smarten up yourself. I have said before that I hate Bhop, Holyfield, Bradley and Ward doing stuff like this but it takes two to make a fight and things happen and if you can win and want to win then you will win. His opponents couldn't and he could, not because he discarded the rules, not because the refs turned a blind eye but because at the end of the the day Ward was the better man.
I hated Holyfield against Tyson but I learnt that you cant blame him you can only blame Tyson for not making the adjustments and taking him out so Holyfield was the better man on the night.
I have been in the ring and I now there are guys who have bested me because of things like that but at the end of the day it's still my fault not theirs, I still had two hand and could have done something about it. It's a fight so don't complain too much, these guys Ward was fighting are pro's, world class boxers and they now what they are doing, but they couldn't do enough to win and he could.

By the way I'm white and British so for me it has nothing to do with race or nationality.

the article is pure speculation. Pure speculation yet the guy has no trouble making a thread that tries to smear more **** on the sport. ...........Rockin'

You seriously lack intelligence if you think that write up was factual.

                teacher gets taught

if you hate the fighters that you mentioned in your reply, then why not hate on ward.regarding the comment on you being white and british,i have nothing but love and respect for my brothers of all races.but by the way.andre ward is white not black.his father is white so that makes him white.but that is not the reason why i dislike the fraud.i have already posted my reasons.i used to box in the amateurs.never professionally.but i do know when i see a foul. not bragging but i fought mark breland in the amateurs.yeah he kicked my ass but i did catch him in the second round with a blow to the ribs.

Mate, big respect for that. I understand what your saying but I just don't agree to the same degree thats all. In regard to hate for other fighters, I meant hatred toward the tactics not the fighter.
Ward has proved himself a more worthy champion than any other really when you apply logic. Who else reached the top of their division fighting the schedule and caliber of opponents than him, no one.
In regard to the white british thing, I was responding to part of your comment about people defending him based on race and nationality that's all, if he is white, blue or whatever fine but I'm not American so I wanted to be clear that none of those factors were a basis for my support of him and his achievements.

                    Peace.

ward has shut out all opposition in the tournament idk what the article is talking about. hometown advantage usually comes to play when you have a close fight. and not even that when you consider froch received 2x 115-113 scores from HOME TOWN refs, that was extremely generous.
