I am probably in the few but I think Byrd is/was a very talented Boxer......he is not a hard hitter but is quick and very elusive and he also has alot of heart he has been in there with alot of very big men and holds his own for the most part.....He would beat Ruiz IMO easily like Toney and RJJ did......Byrds only losses are to Wlad and Ike you can't be ashamed of that.

style wise, I think Ruiz would fit perfectly for Byrd...not too tall with a great jab...not overly effective with aggression...slower...not very versatile...I think Byrd would move and pat him all night...I think Byrd would beat Ruiz inside as well...plus Ruiz is not a timid counter puncher like Williamson, so you won't see two waiting counter punchers in the ring...Byrd has taken the best shots from guys like Tua, Vitali, Ike, McCline, Golata, Williamson, Holyfield, and has only been stopped once...I cannot see Ruiz stopping Byrd nor can I see Ruiz winning a decision style wise...Byrd is somewhat of a watered down combination of Jones and Toney in terms of style

Is this a skill question or a "who would win" question? The answer to both is Byrd, probably, but if it's just who's the most skillful boxer then it's Byrd by a LONG way.

It's a shame for him that he's in the division where people like to see KOs and he has no real punch. I think the guy can stink the joint out frequently, like in his last bout, but I admire his ability.

Though Byrd is boring, he is a better boxer than Ruiz. Byrd's defense is incredible and can counter punch. The other admirable thing about Byrd is toughness. He took a hard beating from Wladimir, one eye was swollen shut the other eye was about half shut and he stuck in there for 12 rounds. Too bad for him that he's probably gonna fight Wlad next and if Byrd didnt win then I doubt he will now.

When I saw Oquendo beat Byrd at his own game, that whole "Byrd is a superior tactition to the rest of the heavyweights" bull**** went out the window. The Byrd that beat Tua and Holyfield is no more. Toney is the only superiority in terms of skill at heavyweight.

If Byrd and Toney don't get 10's in the stamina category, I don't know who does. Byrd should get 10 in heart too. He got up from Ibeabuchi's punches for Christ's sake!

.....You forget the option of who would actually watch if these guys fought? This could easily be the worst heavyweight fight since oh, say, Chris Byrd's last fight.
