If Maidana made the lil girl quit imagine him in the ring with a PRIME Vargas... That **** will be worst than the Penn State case.

During the mandatory drug testing after the de la Hoya fight, Vargas tested positive for the banned steroid stanozolol better known as Winstrol. The Nevada Athletic Commission announced on November 20 of 2002 that it would fine Vargas $100,000 because of his use of steroids. Fernando Vargas was suspended for nine months.
..............................factor in what a 'prime' Vargas entails.

                Vargas takes his soul.

The fact that a young and developing Vargas faced the highly feared monster in Tito, got knocked down 3 times in the first round and came back and fought his ass off to get a knockdown on Tito tells me more than needed. Forget about prime, I'd take the one against Oscar. It's sad that Vargas' prime was when he was 23, he had so much potential.

Fun fact though: Vargas had the same insufferable manager in Roland Arrelano.

i'll also add that vargas was a very complete young professional

he peaked very early, and possessed quite a tool box at that stage

he fought in an era with great fighters of his size who could expose his weakness (lack of real speed) and get to his chin with power punches

i have little doubt that he'd clean up 154 today, probably losing only to mayweather who would walk into the ring at about 152 and give up 15 lbs

                  ortiz has never impressed me
i appreciate the wars he's been in. his fights with berto and maidana were instant classics. but as a boxer i've never been impressed with the kid. he's got decent handspeed and a huge right hook (a pretty unique shot, considering how short he throws it,) and that's about it

and he never developed the charisma they thought he possessed. he was honestly never the same guy after fighting marcos maidana.

This is the best answer, this isnt even a question. Victor is a C+ fighter, Vargas is a B+ fighter.

Vargas would dominate and stop him in 8 or less.

That was the same year Oscar stopped him.

Obviously didn't work for him then.
