of course his trainer and team are going to say he is as light as possible to make people think sergio/floyd, sergio/pac would not be mismatches. . .

chiguy, in my non-clowning mode, and serious discussion mode: i would just like to raise the point that if sergio could really make 154 so easily, and he is "natural" there, why did he not choose to stay there when he had both the 160 and 154 pound WBC belts? why did he select the 160 pound division to stay in?
certainly he should know that the public perception would be much more favorable in regards to a pac/floyd fight with him had he only "went up to 160 once or twice", rather than staying there and making his mark there?

If Kirkland can get by Molina then I hope he goes after Martinez. If Sergio turns that down in favour of another Barker-level guy I'd be disappointed.

i agree 100% with the williams and pavlik fight. . but if i remember correctly, williams wanted a lower catchweight, and sergio wanted to fight at 160. . . but sicne williams still had more power with HBO, he got the catchweight. . .
i guess HBO did favor dzinz as an opponent. . . he should have fought dzinz at his weight class, rather than at a weight neither one is supposedly "natural" at . . . i think taht fight right there showed the difference between a true 154 pounder, and a true middleweight. . . thus proving that martinez is a full blown middleweight. . .
and yeah i would kill to see a kirkland/martinez fight anywehre from 154-160. . . golden boy is down with working with other promotors too, so hopefully we'll get it. . .

I really cant see why you are struggling with this.
Williams, Pavlik, and Barker, all dwarfed Martinez.
Also, Team Martinez have confirmed on numerous occasions that Sergio is not a genuine MW, which is why they have never considered campaigning at SMW.
If he can still make 154, how can you even question it ?
What is your actual point ?
Are you still trying to insinuate that Martinez " should " be fighting at 168, in spite of the fact that.....
* Even middleweights are huge compared to Martinez
* Team Martinez have insisted that Sergio is not even a genuine MW
* Martinez can still make 154
* Martinez has stated that he can still make 150
Stop wetting yourself willya, Martinez has forgotten all about Pacquiao.
He knows that fight aint gonna happen.
Martinez is obviously fighting at 160 for the bigger paydays.

First and foremost. . LOL x 1000 @ believing what sergio;s team says. . . just lol. . . OF COURSE they are going to say whatever they feel makes them look best. . . Doesn't it look a lot more impressive for a supposedly "natural 154 pound fighter" to be dominating "natural" 160 pound guys? Like Skinny ass Williams? Dzinz? JUST LOL. . .
Williams did not dwarf martinez at all; he was 3 inches or so taller, but when it comes to frame size, and overall mass (lean muscle mass), martinez was clearly bigger. . . Remember, Williams is the one who requested the 157 or whatever catchweight; Martinez wanted to fight at the MW limit of 160 pounds. How can you say Barker dwarfed him? Once again, Martinez clearly had a wider frame with more natural lean muscle mass.
The only guy who has had a lot of weight on Sergio is Pavlik. . . And he was fresh outta rehab, still probably drinking through most of training camp . . .
So you're saying him and Lou Dibella couldn't have fought Dzinz at 154? Why did he not hold on to the 154 pound title, and fight Dzinz like HBO wanted him too at his NATURAL weight? Would that not have made A HELL OF A LOT MORE SENSE then forcing him to come up to 160?! WHy? you make 154 easily, right?! Sergio opted to remain at 160 because he wanted to have an advantage over A SMALLER natural 154 pound guy! Sergio has trouble making 154,because he is a natural MW fighter now
Was the size difference not obvious between Dzinz and Sergio? That is what a natural 154 pounder looks like compared to a natural 160 pounder. . . MY POINT is simply this: Sergio is a NATURAL, full-blown 160 pound pugilist, and if he wasn't the kind of fighter he claims pac, cotto, chavez, floyd, etc. are, HE WOULD FIGHT 168 POUNDERS
Can Sergio still make 154? He certainly hasn't, nor has he tried to make any kind of competitive fight there aside from boxers he wants to leach off of . . don't see that fool eager to fight any of the killers or wigsplitters at 154
My point is that Sergio is a natural 160 pound fighter, and if he wasn't scared to lose or get KO'd, he would take fights at 168. . . He is minimizing his risks. . . Not like a people's champion, but RATHER, doing the same things he talks shyt about other fighters doing.Last edited by UglyPug; 01-03-2012, 02:44 PM.

Macklin gives Martinez the edge in speed, but that's where it ends. Macklin doesn't view Martinez as a legit middleweight.

aside from that Martinez takes this one via Stoppage that is my prediciton.
