a duck, to me, is when a fighter goes out of his way to avoid another fighter (eg. pacquiao's ducking of mayweather.)

i don't really think that was the case for berto and ortiz. they were just overlooked in favour of more lucrative fights.

The answer is YES. Why on earth would you fight Shane Mosley for? Did Shane earn the fight with the supposed 'P4P champ'? The dude got his azz kicked by Floyd and then he couldn't even beat Mora. Manny is pathetic for even taking that fight and thats why he's a fraud champ. Shane Mosley is was just a big name to add to Manny's wins to make him look good, pathetic. The way some people define ducking yes at least when talking instead of the Mosely fight which mainly applies to Berto. JMM at least was resonable on several levels, and in the end it proved a stiff test so can't get mad at that fight.

If one actually applies reason and some reasonable standard to the term "ducking" then no, they are just fights that could have happened but didn't they are a dime a dozen as you can only fight one man at the time, even if a lesser fight takes place instead. No big deal~
