Jermain Taylor ended a 26-month hiatus from the ring with an 8th round stoppage of Jessie Nicklow in their Showtime-televised main event Friday evening in Cabazon, California.

Taylor was in control throughout the bout, but lost a point for hitting after the bell to end the sixth round. The former middleweight champion admitted after the fight to have injured his right hand early in the bout, but came on with a vengeance in the eighth. Just as the action was getting good, referee Ray Corona pulled the plug in what appeared to be a severely premature stoppage.

Sebastian Zbik could be a nice step up from this.

Zbik could give JT issues without the KO threat.

terrible stoppge. Nicklow was losing but he wouldn't go away. Taylor hit Nicklow with a good shot then followed that up with a shot on Nicklow's guard and the fight was stopped.

they should let the fighters fight

Good for Taylor hopefully his hand is not to bad so he can get back in the ring fairly soon. I know they wanted to take the slow road back which is perfectly fine but he needs action if he is going to make noise even if taking it slow on the real competition end.

Rusty. Its to be expected.

JT used the jab well. He stopped throwing the right early.

Jessie started leading with his head. JT got frustrated and hit him after the bell and loss a point.

Jessie did his best Clottey impersonation and just took it for most of the fight.

JT landed a combo late and the ref stopped it quick.

I don't know, Nicklow did stagger him a bit with a looping shot that landed on the side of the head. Taylor didn't get hit much.

I honestly think he's Roy Jones damaged, it's just Nicklow sucks.
if they weren't concerned why were they trying to end the fight at the 1st chance

He looked okay...a little rusty as figured by the two year layoff. And his opponent kept leading with his head the whole time so the fight looked sloppy
