I don't think there's enough interest in a Cleverly fight to generate the purse Hopkins will demand. Cleverly hasn't beaten or even fought anyone of interest.

Good fight for Hopkins. Another title to unify, a undefeated record to break, and another chance to get out of the U.S. (especially consider his last fights disappointing ending), and fight in front of a larger attendance.

I agree this is a good fight for B-Hops.

I can't see this making enough money.

It would probably be the cardiff city stadium. hold 26k not sure how much for boxing probably like 20k. it could sell i guess. would do 10k probably at least due to hopkins being a big name, Calzaghe - hopkins history and british fans tend to be some of the best fans around.

There's no way Cleverly Hopkins sells out the MS.
next summer. They think because Calzaghe did it they'll do it. calzaghe sold out the MS because his profile became huge after the Lacy destruction - he plastered in every British paper and TV show etc after that fight.

Cleverly has a tiny profile at the moment - he is only fighting at the Motorpoint Arena for his next fight which is 4,000 or so and that might not even sell out.

No disrespect to Hopkins - he's a legend but boxing has such a low profile that unless you're a big boxing fan like us, you may not even have heard of Hopkins in the UK, let alone go to watch him fight.

Currently, this fight doesn't sell well at all.

Cleverly needs some profile raising fights if he wants a big name sell out in the MS - because it'll be Cleverly that 95% of the fans will come to see in the UK ( and 80% won't be big boxing fans but casual fans that will have only just heard of him.

Take it from someone who knows how it works after watching countless Calzaghe fights that sold around 4 to 5,000 until he massively had his profile raised when he whipped Lacy.

Cleverly needs to go to America - fight Shumenov then Cloud or someone and then came back and huge showdown with Hopkins or somebody.

Cleverly isn't a name over here, so it's not benefiting anyone financially. Cleverly might be the first person Hopkins stops in 7 years.

hopkins has a contract with HBO so ultimately they'll have to approve his next opponent.
                  If the money is right?

That mother****er robbed paying fans of a PPV and people who saw it live. Dude is rich already and want to rob people of even more money? Dude is a fucking joke. What he needs to do is fight for a much lesser amount. He's boring and a BIG risk of a bull**** fight.

Nobody wants this, Hopkins wins easily. Cleverly is not ready for this kind of fight yet. Everyone wants to see the Dawson-Hopkins rematch!
