Nathan Cleverly (23-0, 11KOs) is in talks over a summer unification fight with Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32KOs). The unbeaten WBO light heavyweight boxing champion is set to defend his belt on February 25 against an opponent yet to be confirmed, but is already eyeing a clash with the WBC king and, at 46, the oldest world champion in history. Hopkins has been ordered to fight Chad Dawson again after a controversial no-contest in October, but Cleverly, 24, could fight Hopkins before or after.

it's a bit of an interesting fight. Cleverly looks pretty good from what I've seen, of course I haven't seen him fight an A level fighter before. Not sure how much of a star Cleverly is over there though, seems a bit premature imo.

Bute being tapped up for a 2 fight deal with Froch has probably caused Hopkins to assess wider options.

yeah, and he said if the money is right he'll do it. But I can totally see a scenerio where hbo isn't really interested and maybe don't put up the $1+million dollars each for hopkins & dawson and maybe hopkins goes a different direction (if there is more money) and he either a). drops the wbc belt or b). somehow convinces the wbc to give him a voluntary match first.

hopkins has a contract with HBO so ultimately they'll have to approve his next opponent.

huh? hopkins isn't obligated to fight Syllakh, he's obligated to fight Dawson.

The WBC wanted Dawson vs Hopkins II, and Pascal vs Syllakh, winners fight. Pascal already ducked out of fighting Syllakh, and there is no guarantee hopkins will fight dawson (it all boils down to money for hopkins).

anyway, Clev need to put in some work and make his name bigger if he wanna sale out stadiums.....dudes in their 20's look really desperate chasing a dam near 50 yr old man for a fight .....I guess its just me, maybe I'm being too hard on those dudes.....but dam lol
