I think Roach may have 2 things in mind-- a not too risky, "keep busy" fight for Pacquiao before Mayweather, and to "soften up" Peterson so that Khan will make easy work of him on the rematch.

yes, Pac destroys Peterson inside 3/4 rounds, Peterson's tongue is then hanging out for a Khan rematch

Aint gonna happen..Besides if you want to really hurt Pac, he has to stand there and trade punches with him.. And that would be playin' in to Pac's hand.. You cant outslug Pac cause he is gonna put you in the cleaners..

I like this fight more than the Bradley fight, since Bradley ducked Khan, there's not enough drama to sell that fight.

Peterson on the other hand has a win over Pac's stablemate/co-star.
And is more mentally mature than Ortiz, who he gave a run for his money.

Pac is surely better than this and shouldn't be fighting Khan's battle for him, but Lamont deserves this shot nonetheless.

Doesn't anyone wants to see Pac against an AA boxer? One that is mentally strong? For a tuneup/stay busy fight while we wait for Mayweather?

IMO, Pacquiao should just start collecting belts at 147lbs; ending with Jr.'s WBC. PAC should just unify the 147 swimming pool and ride off into the sunset. No need to prove anything else to the boxing community - though I would like to see a JMM vs. Pac IV just for kicks & giggles.

you think pac-bradley will be at 140? lets be real, peterson is bigger and heavier than pac. he was 155 his last fight, 4in taller than pac and would benefit actually not draining to 140.

i like bradley a bit more but i wont complain about a peterson fight.

As an opponent for Manny/Floyd, you simply cannot compare the 3rd best welter on the planet with a guy who is likely the 3rd/4th best at 140.
