I think that deep down Chavez does not want to fight Martinez but on the outside he makes it seem like he is willing. He presents it that way knowing Arum is not going to let that fight happen. All in all, YES I think Chavez is ducking Martinez. And I believe that Martinez whoops Chavez like nobody's business.

How hard is it to understand that this kid never had and amature carrier this kid is just fighting on pure talent alone ......He didnt train hard acouple of fights ago but now that freddie has him hes a more focus and condition boxer and also is learning how to boxes I meen hes a working progress is that hard to understand ....i guess so cause people just want him to jump in there with the big boys without being ready I meen did u guys see what happen to fernando vargas carrier? I meen come on guys this kid is gonna be the future of boxing hes already popular hes working very hard to stay in shape hes learning to do diffrent things in the ring not just what he learned looking at his father train sines he was just a kid.... One guy is an OK fighter at best. The other guy is an elite P4P level fighter and the best fighter in that division.

Because, that's what Martinez-JCC Jr is, an easy fight.

JCC jr-Rubio is not an easy fight.

no one is ducking anyone, it's all about their promoters holding them back. arum sees big risk/little reward in martinez, as dibella sees the same in pirog. arum is trying to make chavez a bigger name than he already is, being the best in the division is obviously not his goal with chavez. dibella sees pirog as a good fighter but with no real reward. if martinez/pirog happened, what would martinez get out of it by beating him? he'd have the same hbo paycheck and the same no. 3 p4p ranking and no. 1 MW ranking he has right now. he obviously is wasting his time fighting barker and now macklin but there really isn't any big money in his division to begin with, aside from a chavez fight. he should try and move down or challenge some of the bigger names at 154. i think guys like angulo, kirkland, alvarez, and lara have no problem making 155-158.

For Chavez its actually high risk high reward. He is paid pretty well. He's in search of status and fighting a P4P guy could give him that.
