Conditioning coaches are the ones who are totally useless to boxers if anything, if you don't know how to get yourself in good condition you shouldn't even be in athletic competition.Comment

That might be true if all there was to boxing was strength and conditioning...which is far from true. A conditioning coach generally has no knowledge about how to make someone a boxer...only how to improve their strength and conditioning....which although is obviously important...won't do anything for the skills and technique and game plan of boxing...or the cornerman's insight and guidance/directions during the fight. Good fighters can make adjustments and changes...they ones that can't don't get very far... it's like anything else.personally i think conditioning coaches are more useful, although coaches can shed some light on openings in an opponents style
majority of fighters seem to keep the same bad habits and style through-out their careers and that's how we can make educated guesses as to who is likely to win
Trainers and conditioning coaches are like apples and oranges...not the same thing at all.Comment

One of the dumbest tread I have ever red.
This confirms what I already knew, that you know nothing about boxing.
This is why people that have never trained a day in their life and only follows one fighter shouldn't make ****** statements like this.Comment

So only have to train conditioning?
you retain your skills for life once you acquired them and don't need to improve them or keep them sharp?
So you don't need a coach to study hours of footage on your opponent and make up a gameplan?
You don't have to improve on your flaws?
you don't need someone that can push you that extra mile and motivate you when you reach your limit?
You don't need a coach in your coach that can keep you focused during your fight?
You don't need someone to hold your pads, train and prepare you with a gameplan, correct you when you spar?
You don't need someone to lay your work-outs out?Comment

extremely important, you cant learn how to fight well enough to even call youself a real fighter without a good trainer. a trainer is the hands that mold the clay, without it the fighter is useless just like the trainer is useless without the right fighter to share his knowledge with.personally i think conditioning coaches are more useful, although coaches can shed some light on openings in an opponents style
majority of fighters seem to keep the same bad habits and style through-out their careers and that's how we can make educated guesses as to who is likely to win
its not just about shedding light on the oponents style, a fighter needs eyes on him constantly as hes training to show him what hes doing good and what hes doing bad. he has to be shown every single punch, every single move and have the trainer watch over him as he practises to learn. ppl who dont have any experience of boxing dont understand how many details there are to every move, details that can lose you a fight.
the sport is complicated, you need someone on the outside looking in bcuz theres no way you can keep track of every detail youself. you also need someone whos been in the sport atleast a decade to have a real understanding of boxing to the point where they can pass their knowledge on and create a real fighter.
these fighters you talk about with flaws dont have a good enough teacher, or they arent hard enough workers, or they have other flaws they think are more important. either way fighters being flawed doesnt mean trainers are less im****ant, it means they are more important! thats the proof that we need more quality teachers in the fight game. teachers not trainers, not some fitness coach but a real boxing trainer who knows the sweet science.Comment

Another issue would be basically training yourself and the bad habits you can create without a trainer pointing to technical errors your making so that you are mindful of them and correct them.So only have to train conditioning?

This happened to me trying to train myself and everything was all ****ed up and had to be corrected in the gym with a trainer helping me.Comment
