There were many thing Barrera improved on from the first fight and before then.
If a Barrera pre 2003 takes on Pacquiao that night he get KOed, but this is considered a prime Barrera and the one that loses a close UD to Pacquiao is past prime.
People like to throw the past prime, prime label around too much, the slightest dip in form and they are past their prime, a lost to a great fighter and they are past their prime.Comment

There is not eeking out a UD against Floyd. The man that beats him has to knock him out. Too versatile. Erik was the easiest to hit clean out of them all which made him the most exciting in my opinion.i voted morales, among the three mexicans, could eke out a win over floyd at 130 not because of any previous good sparring result erik had vs floyd...
both mab & jmm are more of a counter-punching fighters like floyd is...
i chose erik as i think he could exert the most pressure on floyd when he attacks specially with his jabs
Barrera didnt fight to win. He fought to not lose badly. Definitely past prime but still a good win for Pac with one dimension. There were many thing Barrera improved on from the first fight and before then.

Barrera did fight to win, and did you see the MAB vs Marquez fight, MAB was unlucky to come away with the loss, with the knockdown being missed. There is not eeking out a UD against Floyd. Barrera got into a **** load of wars early in his career. eventually by 1996-96 he was getting really bad headaches. MAB went to get a check up with his doctor,he had brain surgery which he fought with metal plates in his head (to protected the blood vessels in his brain that were worked on because of a genetic disorder) since 1997. That which eventually cause him to change styles, he had to preserve himself as much as he could. For a sport that depends on reflexes and throwing blows to the head, you got to be delusional to think that he didn't loose his prime right then and there, when doctors have to split your head to fix your brain.
This just shows how much balls MAB has.Comment

I saw the fight a few times and the KD was legit but there's no replays in boxing. Very competitive fight but a totally different beast from Pacquiao. Usually when guys are past prime timing is an issue and fighters with speed and pressure are gonna give the best of them more trouble than the technicians.Comment
