I believe what Cotto has to do is become the first Puerto Rican to win titles in 4 divisions. That means moving up to middle and fighting Sergio Martinez or Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Better yet, it would be best if he moved up in weight and defeated Chavez Jr and then went on to defeat Martinez.

If he beats Floyd or Pac in a rematch he would get in.

A good run at SWW against Martinez, Kirkland, Canelo, etc would easily get him in but that is one tough road

Beating Chavez Jr. to be the first Puerto Rican with 4 titles in 4 differnet weight classes, beat Pacquiao in a rematch, and beat Canelo/Kirkland. If he does all three, he's a lock. I think he could get in retiring today, but it's a stretch.

Cotto is definitely a HoF fighter, if people like Tszyu who I was a big fan of could get in even with a relatively weak resume, there's no reason to believe that Cotto wouldn't get in as well. Just because someone isn't one of the top 100 fighters of all times doesn't mean that they aren't hall of fame material at all.

If he wanted to truly secure a place in the HoF, I'd imagine that he would have to at least unify some of the belts at 154 if not all of them since I'm extremely confident that he can take down Alvarez (too inexperienced, questionable chin and stamina, super leaky defense), Bundradge (No explanation needed), and Dzinziruk (On the down side of his career, destroyed by Martinez, inactive). I don't think that a Pacquiao rematch or Mayweather fight are actually necessary whatsoever.

Cotto is a good fighter and was better at 140 and 147. He needs to fight real contendesr at 154, like Kirkland, Rodriguez or Angulo, Then unify with Canelo.. finally he should either evenge his loss with Pacquiao or move up to 160 and beat Chavez jr. because there is no way in hell he can beat Martinez!! That said Cotto would be HOF in my eyes, Right now he is just a fake as 154 champion who had not accoplished anythingto at that weight to have fought for tha championship.. People criticize Chavez jr and Canelo for aquiring their Belts 8in that fashion but Cotto did the exact same thing at 154..

And this coming from a guy nuthuggering ****in Deontay Wilder, who never lost round but always fought tomato cans with negative records and was KTFO in amateur (no blue print to beat him?).

Cotto beat Mosley, Quintana, Torres, Margo, Clottey, Judah, Corley, Mayorga...
He won titles in 3 divisions...

He deserves to be in the hall of fame in my opinion and this based on merit...
