Unfortunately it seems like Calzaghe is comfortably retired. A fight with Ward would be a big one.

A fine champion indeed, I knew you would come around on Joe one day.

Why they love a grunting, low blowing, thumbing, holding, butting, acting, all-in-wrestler, I don't know, and don't care.

I've only seen about 4-5 Calzaghe fights, and none when he was at his peak, but he was the most energetic bigger man I've ever seen, other than Roy Jones, and had an uncanny ability to adjust and rapidly assert his dominance. If you don't see that, you must know little about boxing.
how can you talk about fouls when calzaghe throws every punch illegally with the inside of the gloves? how was it clear when calzaghe was outlanded in most of the rounds and hopkins punches were much cleanerm harder and shook calazaghe up on multiple occasions? the only thing clear was calzaghe was throwing more but if that equals winning then boxing is truly dead. you see the thing is and really the hard part of boxing is actually landing the punches. why not give credit to hopkins for making calzaghe miss(defense) instead of blaming hopkins for calzaghe' terrible accuracy. just throwing is a cheap trick that shouldn't fool anyone with boxing knowledge.

Internet @sshole, you should show some respect. The guy could likely still whoop your foul azz!

With two healthy hands, Calzaghe would fare much better than Froch, no doubt in my mind. Froch is a bit too robotic and slow for Ward. Good as he is, I'd likely pick Calzaghe from 10 years ago to do much better, at least. Not a clear win in my mind, either way...

thats true..if you watch calzaghes bouts you'll see that the punches that he threw were ILLEGAL. you can't even hit fighters with the open part of your glove........

this is a huge blow to calzaghe............

                HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Yeah, too bad fighters get old
Would have been nice to see a prime Calzaghe against today's Ward. Same can be said of so many match-ups...

Joe lacked the balls to fight a fighter like Ward. Ward is 27 and winning the super 6 was already a greater feat than anything calzaghe ever did.

Ward would have frustrated Calzaghe like he does everybody else. Ward is a combination of Mayweather and Hopkins, both patient and deadly. The only way Calzaghe would have been able to deal with Ward is by making him use his legs all night and waiting for Ward to tire in rounds 10-12.
