Grade Floyd Mayweather's resume

I give it an A-.

He has a truly underrated resume.

He's probably the second best ever at 130.

He beat the premiere Lightweight of his time.

140 was a waste.

147, he beat the former lineal champ and lineal champ in succession. He put the first L on an undefeated Jr. Welter champ who showed up full of P&V. His retirement precluded inclusion in what was a deep field at 47 for a while.

In other words, there are ups and downs. There could be more. Mayweather is at least an A- based on what's there.

At 135...he beat the best LW of his era and one of the most underrated fighters of the past 10-15 years, Castillo. Check Castillo's career resume, it's pretty damn solid. Granted, he's stayed around about 4-5 years too long, should have retired after Hatton.

I'd give Floyd and Manny both a B. But, if Pac chooses to fight Cotto or Marquez next, instead of Timothy Bradley, it will continue Pac's trend that he's set that started with him fighting Clottey.

Floyd should finish his career out with Sergio at 154-155, Manny, and than either Kirkland at 154 (if he keeps winning), Khan (if he bounces back), and Bradley.

They're both A's. You want A+'s because of their talent level. Me too. I wish there were a bunch of guys going all Ezz and Langford. The modern era has little of that. I wish Roy had said damn the torpedoes and gone after the guys King and the Brits were working with at 68 and been everything he could have been instead of just a lot of it. I wish Hopkins had done the Showtime deal and seen Harry Simon and Calzaghe instead of Hakkar and Oscar (his post-40 run makes up for it).

The guys who go resume crazy, like Corrales, Froch and Morales, don't have the same talent level but it's why I love them. Their losses leave them more available for risk but they show up to make violence.

Doesn't mean those others guys aren't better and don't have the depth of wins to prove it.

b-, Floyd has dropped the ball many times,he coulda at this point already been considered the goat somewhat like RJJ was early... however i think his goal and outlook was longevity and to let certain fighters sizzle out, because they where going after all the top tier guys and couldnt sustain...Ex:PAC_MAN.. Money also played into his recent career, but if he closes it with solid fights: Pac, martinez, JMM2, Berto, Ward etc... B+

If Floyd beats Sergio or Manny, it's an A- at least. Same goes for Manny Pacquiao, who is probably around a B, just like Floyd.
