I bet there are no white Europeans on your favorite fighters list.

FAIL Sergio Martinez is american, not from the US but he is american too. Many people talk like the US are the True America or something, sH iT!

You forget that guys that make the FNF-SHO/HBO transition are guys that network execs are open minded about, not those banished to ESPN
Pirog is only 31 years old and probably in his prime. He could easily be fighting 4 times year. I doubt those 1 million dollar pay days in Russia will come more than twice a year. He could fight on ESPN in between the Russia paydays. I hope his next fight is in the US, because 3 fights in Russia is a row is inexcusable if his dream is really to fight in the US.

Would be nice for his fans, but wouldn't do much for him, both financially and rep wise. He'd be fighting a Vera caliber guy, at best. When guys like Rubio are opponents on FNF, it's not ESPN that's footing the bill, Pirog doesn't have GYM behind him. And his earnings would barely cover the travel expenses. What he should do is have a training camp in the US like Shumenov, then FNF would make some sense. But his training regime apparently works for him.

The point of the ESPN fights isn't to earn the respect of a tiny minority of hardcore boxing fans though. The point is simply to expose himself to the American public and create some buzz. In fact, the bigger the bum, the better. It'll make him look good and he'll be able to add some KOs to his highlight reel. Fighting bums is a normal part of building a fighter, but it needs to happen in the US so people can actually see it. Showtime would definitely be more likely approve the Geale fight if Pirog had couple of ESPN fights under his belt. While Pirog has had some previous American exposure, it was still only on a PPV that didn't exactly sell well.

Unless he's based out of here, it's a lot of hassle to break even. It'd be a grand gesture, but it's a lot to expect from a guy that supposedly makes a mil per fight. Maybe it'd help his chances get on SHO, maybe he has reasons to think it wouldn't. Showtime of old wouldn't wait for Pirog Vera to commit to Pirog Geale.

If Pirog wants to make money or be relevant at all then he needs to start taking fights in the US. Im not yet sold on Pirog, I've only seen 4 fights of his and impressed and not so much as well. After his mandatory defense he should fight the winner of Chavez/Rubio or Martinez. Pirog is worthy of Martinez if Dzrink and Barker were considered good enough. There's only one way to find out how good Pirog is and thats if he steps up the comp.

That's not realistic, neither Sergio not Chavez is interested. Quillin, Lara, or even Lee would be more realistic.
