Chill y'all.
87 days is nothing, he will have tonnes of support, and they will likely appeal and get the sentence reduced anyways.
Ya gotta admit, Mayweather has pushed the boundaries a little, and **** could have been a lot worse for him..... he likely got lucky truth be known.
This won't affect his career, and the Pac fight CLEARLY wasn't going to happen anyways..... no big deal.
The second it became obvious that Bob Arum had no interest whatsoever in making a Mayweather fight, you should have all smartened up.
BTW, that "second" was immediately after the Marquez fight when Arum got Judge Daniel Weinstein to issue a statement indicating that there would be no negotiations with Mayweather.
Arum got lucky, Floyd copped a small flesh-wound, and Pac dodged a bullet.
No big deal.

Look at history. Joe Louis was black but everybody loved him (white and black) because he was humble, unlike Mayweather
Not everyone loved him, but yes he was encouraged to be as humble as possible in the media. This is not to say he wasn't genuinely humble...but just to keep it in perspective, what black athlete during these time couldn't be humble if they want to make some money? And it didn't matter how humble you were, you were still black there was no getting around that to some people. There was no suppoort for Louis in the first Schmelling fight as there was in the 2nd. In fact, he was heavily mocked in newspaper clippings afterward, depicting him as a monkey losing to the new white champion - even though Schmelling wasn't American.
After all, is the moniker "The Brown Bomber" really endearing or sound like something that was given to him by those who still remained subtly condescending? You should have seen the nicknames they were trying to give him before settling on that.
Yes, he was a role model to a lot of black people, but not everyone thinks alike. He was berated many times very publicly later on by Ali and other political parties who saw him as a "sellout." suffered many years of depression, drug abuse, and isolation and I don't think anyone went out of their way to apologize to him about any of it.Last edited by LA_2_Vegas; 12-25-2011, 07:00 PM.
