I always wondered about this. who has he beaten to be ranked #1 at 154 he hasnt been any of the top 10 guys except foreman who was ranked #10 when he fought him, but come on be serious. cottos gotta beat some of the top names in there like kirkland, lara, paul williams, alvarez even angulo hes gotta beat some top 10 guys and cut the bs.
So Who Has Cotto Beaten To Be The Top Guy At 154???

Foreman was a top ranked guy when he beat him.
The main thing though is 154 has a lot of talented fighters, but no one has really done anything at 154. Not canelo, not angulo, not kirkland, not williams, etc. So Cotto just came in at a good time, and based on his past accomplishments at the lower weight classes and beating foreman got the #1 spot. I mean Cintron was rated #2 in the division until just recently when he lost (prior to canelo). That should tell you all you need to know about the division. -
I agree. Don't need to say much else.Foreman was a top ranked guy when he beat him.

Really is a mediocre weight-class in a sense that nobody is running away with anything. No one fighter has done something amazing to really be the #1 guy of the division.
You can really have different rankings for the division. I don't mind if someone has Cotto #1 or any other fighter at #1. In reality most of these fighters just have 1 good win and that's it.Comment

the funny thing is james kirkland and erislandy lara have the most impressive performances in the lat year or so. so i think one of those guys should be ranked above cotto. with that said the king of 154 is sergio martinez. hes the best fighter in both divisions.Comment

Multiple thing with this post.
Martinez hasn't fought at 154 since Feb of 2009.
Kirkland had a great win over Angulo, but Angulo himself is not a title holder and only had one fight in over a year.
Lara, while I do agree was an impressive performance, at the end of the day still got the Loss and williams wasn't a title holder either (and was coming off a brutal KO loss himself).Comment

ur rite on all of those things. the division is just an eyesore to me tho. and cotto isnt helping to clear up the picture at all, so might as well either all it what it is, sergio would probly beat anyone in the division if he decided to come back down, or go with the young talent.Multiple thing with this post.

I love the division though, tons of entertaining guys and so many potential great fights. They just need to start fighting eachother. Kirkland vs Molina next hopefully winner gets Canelo
Cotto, well, not sure what he's going to do so if he doesn't take a top guy sooner or later I'd like to see him drop down in the rankings.Comment
