    Is Andre Ward PPV Worthy?

Just seeing a lot of people defending Ward saying they should appreciate him more, that he is fun to watch because of his adaptive natures, etc.

At the end of the day boxing is a business where a lot are only focused on fighters who bring in money-

SO would you buy his PPV? Or only a specific fight of his?

Of course he isn't. Nobody at 160-Heavyweight is HBO PPV worthy. And the only fight i'd pay for at 154 is Canelo vs Cotto.

I'd personally pay to watch Ward fight, but just cause I would pay doesn't mean 200k-1,000,000 other people would buy it.

Great fighter but he would do horrible numbers on PPV. The biggest fight in that division in Ward-Bute would be lucky to get 50K.

I would buy them but should he be on PPV currently hell no he needs to grow his star way more.

He needs to venture to all corners of media that will accept him to promote himself and from that maybe he can cobble together a decent audience he can grow with consistent winning. Right now he has a long way to go in terms of marketability, unless he has a very well known dance partner (of which there isn't much to choose from in his weight class).

If you haven't noticed there are only three guys really that bring in PPV numbers: Floyd, Pac & Cotto.

Hopkins vs Dawson did less than 50k
Roy Jones had a PPV for like $8 online that only Reed bought
There are a lot of little smaller PPV's like that when no other network will pick it up.

So yeah, that's it. Martinez, Donaire, Marquez, Gamboa, et al can't headline a PPV by themselves. Maybe Canelo could to a certain extent, but that's about it.

We are in a age where PPV is pretty much dead in boxing unless it's the super elite stars.

Sadly no, and he doesn't have a big enough name to attach himself to in or around his weight class. He's gonna have to do it the hard way, sort of like Bernard Hopkins, the way Bernard's dominance allowed him to get Trinidad and Oscar.

On style alone he wouldnt do great ppv #'s, but once he gains some recognition, and keeps winning, he will eventually be a ppv fighter depending on who his opponent is. Styles make fights and he will be very entertaining to watch against come forward all action fighters. Against a similar technical fighter, it would make for a snoozefest unless you're the type who's into non action chess matches

Boxer types with soft/good personalities like Wlad, Ward and Dawson will never be successful on HBO PPV.

Why was Wlad vs Haye on normal HBO? Even with an exciting trash talker like Haye? Because Wlad is so boring when it comes to pre fight with his gentlemen like comments and"I do my talking in the ring". These guys, Ward, Dawson, Wlad, don't have style that will catch people's attetions, and their personalities don't catch any one's interest either. So they're never gonna be on PPV.

Hopkins talks a lot but also has a defensive style that people already learned about in past PPV's of his, so they don't buy his PPV's anymore.

Timothy Bradley on the otherhand is lucky as hell he's around the same weight class as the sports top two draws, but he is not a PPV or even a hometown draw.

So when you ask if a fighter is PPV worthy, you gotta be fair and ask yourself, how many fighters are actually PPV worthy.

Problem is there's no Tito's or De La Hoya's at 160-200, in terms of star power. You can mention Chavez Jr if you want, he's a draw in Mexico, but Chavez Jr doesn't even want to fight the best in his weight class, so forget the best at 168.

And Dan Goossen? Forget it. Ward is fucked. Goossen is the same guy who has an exciting fighter in Paul Williams but can't sell him to the fans.

Any one can say what they want about GBP, but give them Andre Ward and watch his fame triple.
