Should Ward fight Bute next

Bute is hands down the most "deserving" SMW right now.
He has beaten all his opponents worse than they've already been beaten. Look at that major accomplishment. He wasn't the first to beat his opponent, he just beat him worse than he was already beaten...
Just look at his track record. What he's done in the past 2 years has title shot written all over it: Johnson, Miranda, Brinkley, Mendy and McGee.
The man is ranked #1. That in itself is all you need to fight the SS winner.
Anyone that feels that Bute's accomplishments aren't enough to fight the SS winner is either ******ed or smoking crack.Comment

i think people are giving ward way too much credit for allan green and sakio bika (i thought bika edged that fight), they're not elite guys. bute was much more impressive against bika and miranda. glen johnson > arthur abraham. let's not pretend that andre ward has been on the kind of schedule that froch has been on
of course he should fight bute next. can't fault bute for not being invited to the tournamentComment

he certainly deserves a numero uno spot the TS needs to realise that without being entered in the tourny most of the fighters wouldn't have had the chance to fight so many Elite...Bute is hands down the most "deserving" SMW right now.

Bute has been out of the equation and thats the reason he deserves a shotComment

I agree....it sounds a little like some folks are worried about Ward's chances against Bute. I mean, why not give the guy a shot? If Ward is truly THAT good, then he'll blast Bute out of the water anyways.

Bute "is" good though. He's very good based on what he's shown against mid-level opposition.
But because Bute is good, that's why he must subject his body to the same wear and tear type of punishment that the SS contestants put themselves through before he should be allowed to compete.Comment

This is pure absolute bollocks. Since november 2009 when the SS started, Ward had 5 fights and Bute had 6. They were barely touched during these fights, so most of the "wear and tear" was during training. It is not Bute's fault that he managed to finish off his 6 opponents in a measly 42 rounds, while Ward did not get one single KO.Bute "is" good though. He doesn't need to fight Bute next, relax. He's going to be out of commission for a while anyway with his broken hand. But after that grueling tourney, I'd take some time off and then take on the best, most lucrative option available. If it's Bute then great.Comment
