Show me some evidence Jones was capable on the inside against a supreme inside fighter who is also fast on the outside?

As for Calzaghe-Ward, I would lean towards Ward. He's a more complete fighter and a better boxer.
It's a 50/50 fight imo, both great fighters.

Ward is quick on the outside, but he's not even in the same league as prime Jones in terms of speed; be it hand speed, foot speed, reflexes...Jones was a level above in all those departments.

Getting inside on a prime Jones is a lot easier said than done. At times he would allow some guy's to get inside (Brannon for example) and punish them with his lightning fast hooks to the head and body, but he was more than capable of keeping a fight outside with his speed. Not to mention his accuracy and power, he would hit Ward on the chin, which others haven't been able to test.

Joe commented - 'It was a shame for Carl, I really fancied him to do it before the fight, but Ward was the clear winner on the night.' Joe went on to say - 'I was impressed with the way Ward boxed on the inside, he looked to spoil a lot, he's a very clever fighter!'

When asked if he would have beaten Ward if the pair had met during the prime of his career, Joe smiled and replied - 'I think the way Ward fights would have suited me to be honest, I would have had too much speed and power for him - so yes, I would have beaten him, but congratulations to him and his team and I hope he goes on to have a good career'

Calzaghe doesn't have the most solid resume but he was a master at adapting to different styles in the ring. Ward would definitely win the first half of the fight but Calzaghe would come on strong in the second half. Being able to adapt to different styles on the night is a great skill to have imo.

No way. Not even close. Nobody aside from maybe prime Roy Jones , 'wipes the floor with Joe'. Sorry.

Please tell me you don't really think Joe beating Roy Jones' ghost meant anything?????

prime RJJ is the greatest of all time

he could move to 160 (where he kicked Bhop PRIME's ass) and destroy haggler, hearns and leonard all on the same night

move upto 168 destroy every sup middle weight in history

at 154 he would destroy pacquiao and maywather on the same night (no way could either handle his power)

between 154 and 175 no one in history beats jones- only ATGs would go the distance LOL and that would be a huge lopsided UD

any of the smaller guys like mayweather leonard who moved up would get KO's rd.1

calslappy wouldnt last 1 round either

Jones didn't fight on the inside in his prime, he didn't have to. He was too elusive and explosive for Ward or Joe. He easily beats them anytime prior to 2002. EASILY.

People who dispute this have no concept of how good prime Jones was. He was like Floyd and Manny rolled into one. Absolutely unmatched in the last 40 or so years. Not even SRL was in his overall league at their best.
