    thats bollocks.

they are the best heavyweights in the world because all the rest are ****. very few are even in shape.

i mean look at the opponents, chisora, and mormeck. c'mon man! where are the real challengers? leave the out of shape midgets alone.

personally im of the opinion that the klits should fight each other and give the fans a decent heavyweight fight for a change or dont bother fighting at all.

there probably wouldn't even have been a single legit american heavyweight champion in the past 70 years if the soviet fighters were allowed to turn pro

hat Wladimir Klitschko, at age 28, was knocked out in 2 rounds against Corrie Sanders and 5 rounds against Lamon Brewster, and all of the sudden at the age of 35 is now unbeatable?

          Maybe hes on PEDS

The NBA and NFL were around and very popular in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s.

That line of thinking is a laughable excuse and rationalization.

So I guess Lennox Lewis wouldn't have been a champion either if Americans still "gave a ****?"

It was with Lennox Lewis that Americans lost their grip on the HW division. The K-Bros just continued the trend.

And in each case it has little or nothing to do with the NFL, NBA, etc.

Lennox Lewis got knocked out cold by two journeymen in McCall and Rahman, and he's still very highly regarded. Was he on PEDs for the rematches of those?

It's the heavyweight division: anyone can get knocked out on a given night.

Its sad that the Heavyweight divisiom sucks now in days. The Klitschkos are good, just wish there was legit competition for them. I don't really care if they are European, just wish there was more American Heavyweights. A Puerto Rican Heavyweight too. Lol. Too bad the American Heavyweights are all playing Linebacker or Defensive End in the NFL.

Yes the NBA and NFL were popular back then as well, but so was boxing. The NBA and NFL are still popular, but boxing is not. With the politics, corruption, robberies, bs promoters, limited exposure, etc etc. boxing is just not an attractive option for most athletes in America anymore.

I encourage every boxing fan to watch that video. It's too true, there's just no money in boxing anymore. Everyone sees a Mayweather and a Pacquaio and think boxers make so much money, but 99.9 percent of boxers don't make any more money than the average 9-5 person. You'd be surprised how many boxers have other full time jobs to support their families.

Look at average boxers. When I say average, they were all certainly top 500 in the world if not higher. Top 500 in NBA, NFL, MLB, you'd still be making millions.

Librado Andrade. ESPN had an article today which said he was receiving 20,000 for a title eliminator fight.

David Diaz, multiple golden gloves title, was 34-1 and held a title, and couldn't even afford a new car until he fought Pacquiao.

Peter Manfredo, on the Contender, fought for multiple world titles against big name opponents, and needs a full time job outside of boxing

Even an Andre Ward, top 5 p4p fighter in the world. He only made 900,000 for the Froch fight. After paying everyone, thats probably less than 500,000. Top 5 fighter in the entire world making that amount is outrageous

It just puts the sport into perspective. With all the focus on Mayweather and Pacquiao we don't see that. That is why fighters and promoters are so quick to cash out and land one big fight.

I would say only 10 or 15 fighters in the entire world even bring in more than 1 million a year.

Boxing is not a viable option anymore. Even if you do somehow make it to the top, you have to deal with all the politics and corruption.

Its dead in America and dead for athletes too

Have you seen the top 10 AMERICAN HW rankings? They're ****. America's two best HW's (Arreola and Chambers) are both legit cruiserweights fighting at HW, hell even Byrd was able to get all the way down to Light Heavy weight by just shedding fat lmao!

                      http://boxrec.com/ratings.php?***=M&division=Heavyweight&country=US&pageID=1

Top 10 American HW rankings. Go ahead and look at their ages, like I said we've got a bunch of HW's from the 90's dominating it lmao, why would HW's from the 80's and 90's be able to dominate the American boxing scene today? They're playing other sports.

The NFL and the NBA have always been popular but NBA's popularity increased DRAMATICALLY once Michael Jordan came along in the 80's. Salaries also changed A LOT over the years. Jordan is the most FAMOUS athlete in America, he sells shoes which are extremely popular, he's got endorsements from Nike, Hanes clothing, etc.

He changed the sport of basketball forever.

The average NBA contract in the NBA changed from $35,000 in the 70's to $180,000 just a decade later in the 80s.

The MAX salary is around $25 million per YEAR

Most NBA players from the 50's and 60's are broke and have been broke for a while, these guys got paid very little, only like $6,000 a season. Same for the NFL.

The average NFL contract in 1970 was $21,000

Now the MINIMUM salary is around $470,000 for just 1 season. The AVERAGE salary is now $1.9 per year.

Now the AVERAGE NBA salary is $5.15 MILLION

The bottom line is that you MUST be BIG to play these sports, the biggest, most athletic American kids will play these sports in schools.

There is ONE American boxer that has made the jump from sports to boxing and guys like him are a dime a dozen in American football, that person is undefeated American HW Seth Mitchell who's got decent potential. I mean the guy just KO'd a legit HW that has never been KO'd in 2 rounds (Ibragimov).

Seth Mitchell was playing college football, he had dreams of the NFL but he wound up getting injured which ended his college career.

For the first time in his life he started boxing in 2006, went 9-1 in amateur boxing, turned pro 2 years later after he began his am. boxing career in 2008 and is now probably the best American HW, 14th ranked HW in the world.

The guy started boxing at age 27 (now 29), and has established himself as one of the best HW's lol.
