When was the last time Floyd fought a real threat?

Whether you thought/knew Mayweather would beat Ortiz.. he was still a definite threat.
He's 10 years younger... absolutely prime, bigger than Floyd, Southpaw, decent foot/hand speed, and excellent power... and coming off the best win of his career over a fast handed undefeated Berto.
Ortiz WAS a threat... just because Floyd handled it somewhat easily... doesnt mean he wasnt a threat.

Believe me, I'm not one of these people saying Floyd is cherry picking fights lately. He deserves a lot of credit for dominating Mosley and knocking Ortiz the f*** out.

Does this mentality work in any other profession?
If a doctor performs a 6 hour heart surgery successfully does that mean the patient didnt really need surgery?
If there is a five alarm fire and the fire dept. comes in and puts it out in an hour does that mean the fire wasn't severe?
If a chef makes a state dinner for the President and it comes off without a hitch does that mean its easy to cook fro the president and heads of state?
If someone's mom gives birth to triplets *******ly without yelling and cursing does that mean pumping out three kids is easy?

I'm pretty sure there weren't too many people that really thought Gatti, Baldomir, or Oscar would really beat Floyd, and I remember that while there was a vocal minority saying Ortiz would win, like 90% of NSB voted for Floyd in every poll I saw.
As for everyone else its always the same story. Yes you can do that to any fighter but with Floyd it is ALWAYS the same story. Gatti, Blado and Hoya where all threats as Floyd was moving up in every fight to fight them. He didn't use weight advantages to beat these guys. He moved up and beat them. Outside of Hoya, Floyd beat them to the point that people back peddled and said Floyd cherry picked them and that they where not threats.
This happens EVERY fight. The Mosley fight was the worst ever. But you are correct nobody besides hard core Mayweather haters where picking Ortiz to win. However that does not make him a non-threat. As nobody from 140-154 beats Mayweather IMO.

I don't think Oritz was a threat at all...He's too much of a mental midget to be a threat against Floyd. I also think some tried to make him out better than what he actually was. His high ranking at WW was more cuz' of the lact of talent at WW than he's actual accomplishments at said weight.
However, he was a legit opponent. That was the best fight at WW that could be made that didn't involve Pac.
So there should be no complaints or issue with Floyd fighting the best available opponent in his weight-class.
