He needs aerobic stamina more than anaerobic stamina.
Video: Andre Berto training... can you do this?

that particular exercise looks pointless to me, in terms of for boxing that is. and the resistance band stuff badly designed, it's not close enough to actual footwork to justify trying to make it so, and therefore it would be more productive to just use it as a more generalised piece of work. the coach should stick to coaching sprinters as he doesn't appear to understand how boxing works.Comment

He doesn't need this stuff then. What he's doing is for explosive power, strength and speed, not stamina and endurance. HE has no problem recuperating or with his explosive power ad speed etc.
What he needs to change is his endurance and stamina work. If anything, it's this type of stuff that he should relax on and slow down with. He tires late in a fight because of his explosive bursts wasting his stamina and endurance energy too early.
This is one thing about boxing with new 'modern' super scientific methods. They don't take you the full 12 rounds with the same type of energy. They're designed for beating times short distance with super explosive speed and power.
Boxing is probably about 50/50 or 60/40 with a slight lean toward endurance over the long haul, and Berto does not need more of this type of training. He needs more straight up hard endurance and stamina training. Long runs, long periods of exercises rather than short bursts of high energy, high intensity madness and then a rest. It kills you when you suddenly have a long drawn out war over the distance and go nuts early.Comment

You've always made pointless posts. This one is just ******.looks like they are trying to improve his balance, which is 100% what they should be doing. Pretty sure this guy is the former track coach for Kelli white and Marion Jones. Notice the "SNAC" shirts too, that's Vic Conte's brand of "legal" supplements. Pretty damn good too. SNAC Proglycosyn (vanilla) is my fave post workout supplement. I pay $35 USD in addition to the product price to ship it from the USA and it's still cheaper than buying supplements of equivalent quality here in Australia.
Absolutely man. He has all the anaerobic stamina you could want or need. He always comes back well after short bursts, he recuperates super quick from any knock downs and those short periods of craziness that exemplified his last Ortiz fight, but he has terrible 12 round stamina.
He does not need to be doing more of this ****e. It's good, no doubt, but boxing needs more basic road work than this type of stuff. This is great for beating a track time, without someone pushing your ****ing head off, for short distances. Boxing is long term (12 rounds), plus the short term sprints of combinations and trading and single rounds etc. Berto is fine in that regard. He needs work on the full fight endurance. Definitely not the right type of stuff to be doing.
Obviously though, he would be supplementing it with his proper boxing road work, but in my opinion he needs to do less of this stuff and more classic boxing roadwork slog.
