This is completely absurd, there's no way Ward is going to draw 16K unless he gives the tickets at $1 and still I would be a little bit cautious about filling an arena.
I'm not a great fan of Bute, but the fact here is that he's a big star in Canada and is completely able to get over 20K for one of his fights. Ward on the other hand is the #1 SMW, but he has a style that's absolutely terrible for most fans. He jabs and clinches all the time, even more than Wladimir, so most fans won't pay to see this guy. I remember that in his fight vs Abraham in California there were more Abraham fans than Ward fans.

For Bute the fight with Froch would make A LOT more money than a fight with Ward. There's money in Canada to see Bute vs Froch, and there's also money in the UK, but there's no money in a fight in Oakland or any place in the US for a fight of Bute vs Ward (yeah, I don't think that Ward could fill an arena in Vegas, but maybe Bute fans can IDK)

Andre Ward reminds me of Chad Dawson, excellent fighter, no charisma, no drawing power, not even at home.

Make the fight where you can create the most buzz, draw the most fans, and have the biggest event.

That's Montreal.

Let Ward determine the size of the ring, and appoint all neutral officials.

C'mon Andre, a true champ would take that fight, even if Bute did have an easier time with Bika than you did.

OK great, Bute is ready to fight in the U.S.!! I have no problem if Ward makes another defence first but after that he HAS TO fight Bute or its official hes ducking Bute. And i just hope Bute beats him, i dont think so though. In the US Ward will get away with his dirty boxing style. Bute vs. Ward is the only Ward fight i will watch, anything else i will avoid like the plaque. Hes just a boring fighter, is dirty and he cant punch.

Ward will fight Bute but i agree with Ward - Bute hasn't ben in the tournament and fought B, C level guys.

If he wants a shot a Ward he needs to beat a respected guy. Froch or Dirrell etc.

Looks like Froch is up next for Bute which will be a good fight and tell us whether Bute is the real deal or not.

One thing I don't agree with from Ward is to move unto LHW for one fight.

If you're ready to step up and campaign in the division then do it - I see him dominating the LHW division when he decides to move up but don't move up just to pick on a weak or developing Champion for one fight then move back down - that's a cowards move.

No way Ward gets 16k in oakland. Absolutely no possible way. On the other hand, Bute hs proven he could fill 20k in Montreal. Dont sleep on Bute neither, ward might be favorite and with good reason but he can get the job done. Then add that ward would look down on bute which is always a bit mistake and you got yourself a fight

This thread just shows how little a lot of posters know about boxing (probably the same ones who think Pac has a chance against Floyd). Ward always packs the house at Oracle arena whenever he fights in Oakland. The fact that he is the super 6 champion, Olympic gold medalist, the recognized SMW champ, & has never been defeated only makes his legend continue to grow in Oakland.
