Comments Thread For: Victor Ortiz vs. Sergio Martinez at 150? Count Ortiz In!

At a recent media roundtable discussion in Atlantic City, which promoters put together to officially announce the upcoming Andre Berto-Victor Ortiz rematch on February 11th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the former WBC welterweight champion Ortiz fielded questions on a variety of topics, from PED testing for the bout with Berto, to how his mindset was following his fourth round knockout loss last September to pound for pound great Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Damn Ortiz... fighting a MW after fighting in JWW only a year ago?
Given it'll be at a CW... but it would be with Serg who evidently won't have a problem making that weight because that's all they ever talk about

None of us thought about this match on here by I gotta say it's brilliant! Ortiz could probably give him the full 154, Ortiz really is short on any size, he came in at 164 against Floyd. This would be explosive.

Martinez would destroy Ortiz easily that fight won't be competitive

Against Berto showed every one his heart...where did that heart went when he fought Jr. I don't know. Ortiz quit when he fought Floyd, to this everyone can attest to. Should he fight someone Floyd-like but with a bigger punch (i.e. Maravilla) Ortiz will find another way to quit. IMO. If Ortiz fought Jr. with the same heart he fought Berto (minus the obvious head-butts) Ortiz would have given Jr. a fight that we as boxing fans would still be talking about today. The Martinez fight should never happen, Martinez by brutal KO.

Martinez weighed 165 or 166 against Barker and that was at MW, Ortiz weighed 164 against Mayweather at WW. Just make it at the full 154 if they plan on getting this done.
