Floyd rejecting Arum's promotional propositions, and sticking to May 5th, Pac then moved to a 50/50 split demand.
May 5th wasn't a hard date, and Pac has been the one making all the consessions. As quickly as May/Pac negotiations evolve and change from day to day. Pac's random comment about less money is only a blip. And clearly obselete at this point. The conversation and variables have changed, that statement is no longer relevant considering he's had to do all the bending to get this fight closer to fruition.

Both sides should bend to make this happen. Anyone making excuses for Mayweather to create road blocks that only benefit his own bank need to wisen up imo. Defending one man's greed at the expense of every single other person? Give me a break. There is a context for Pac's statement about taking less money. Bottom line, that context is no longer relevant. It could only be relevant on a website with a large # of reactionary fanboys.

Both sides need to continue working towards a fair middle ground. Boxing, boxing fans and both fighters deserve to enjoy this fight.

Promotors do a hell of a lot more than negotiate a contract. They're in charge of marketing, fighter appearances, autograph signings, media appearances and interviews, commercials to promote the fight and everything else that goes along with it.

There would be no such thing as promoters if the fighters themselves didn't have a say in what split they should receive? In what is acceptable to them and what is not?

        What?
You're looking too far into it or you're deliberately being ******. What a fighter says to the press means NOTHING. Especially in this case. Its irrelevant, dead, moot. We all know that Arum, his promoter, was NEVER going to accept anything less than 50/50. We know this. Why pretend that this wasn't the case?

but these are not ammo to any actual future negotiations. they'll start from scratch and lay out everything each party wants.
You're talking about negotiations but you're not addressing the facts.

              The facts are:

              1. Mayweather is undefeated

              2. Mayweather has generated more money over his career

              3. Pacman went on record saying he will take a lesser share

These are all FACTS that can and will be used in negotiations. Regardless if Pac said those statements in or outside of negotiations they still can be used against him in negotiations.

Knowing those facts if you are Floyd Mayweather would you except a 50/50 split? I certainly would not.

              Think about it...

In a court case if you say you ****d someone on the record before trial, won't that be used against you in the case?

The judge isn't going to say oh well since you weren't in court then what you said doesn't matter, No, you WILL be accountable for your words, just like many will be held accountable for his in negotiations.

                Yeah... right back atcha.

Why say he'd take less than 50-50? Why say it?

To lie? To get peoples hopes up? To get people falsely on his side?

Looks like Floyd called him on what he said and now he's back peddling out of it.

Like I said before when I answered your question... No I didn't ever think the fight would get done by someone taking less than 50-50... UNTIL Pacquiao came out and said that he would do it to get the fight done.

                • 50/50 shouldnt even be an issue, i thought the contract was already drafted?

I rememebr Floyd saying, I sign the contract today, you sign it tommorow.

                  Amirite?

To make it seem like hes doing everything to get the fight done.

                    Same thing Floyd is doing

When in reality, they're not going to fight.

i mean it was a hot news yesterday that pac and floyd talked over the phone and pac clearly asked for 50/50...and everyone seem like they're fine with it. no major bumpage of this thread...why? because everyone thought floyd will accept it...until today when news broke out he rejected it.
