What were they going to do with a truck full of turkeys this time of year? The stores are overstocked and I don't think there is a black market for frozen turkeys anyway.
Also, where were they going to take the truck? If it were California or Texas, they could make a run for the border, but what were they going to do in Florida? They had to know all big trucks are equipped with GPS, so they couldn't take it to a chop shop. As the article said, the truck was found a while later. Insurance fraud may be they answer.
I don't know about other places, but if you go to LA during Thanksgiving there is a lot of people who sell 20lb frozen turkeys for like $5 on the street...
