Don King got some people to "Hijack" it so he could make money and look like the good guy and the victim.
No doubt in my mind about that.
How else would anyone know about the trucks travel route and so on.
A truck hi******* is often planned and the hijackers will often get tipped of.

Don King set it up and sold the turkeys off some where

What were they going to do with a truck full of turkeys this time of year? The stores are overstocked and I don't think there is a black market for frozen turkeys anyway.

Also, where were they going to take the truck? If it were California or Texas, they could make a run for the border, but what were they going to do in Florida? They had to know all big trucks are equipped with GPS, so they couldn't take it to a chop shop. As the article said, the truck was found a while later. Insurance fraud may be they answer.

Most likely they had no idea what was in the truck when they jacked it.

                  Sounds like a sick movie.

                  Starring Ben Stiller.

Most of the turkeys appeared be present, but the turkey drive still had to be canceled because organizers couldn't know for sure if the birds had remained refrigerated.

If they found the truch a few hours later, and the truck was originally a freezer truck, the turkeys must still have been frozen, they being in close contact and frozen solid, it would take a couple of days with no freezing for them to be fully thawed.

Maybe they took the wrong truck. High******* is going on all the time I think, or maybe they though no further than their skulls, and after they had the truck, couldn't figure out how they'd dispose of 30 thou turkeys in a way they would not be caught.

Anyway they chould still have been handed out. I'm surprised that not a single expert on freezing was seemingly consulted or quoted. Could salmonella survive proper cooking? Not much can.
