i think it's the double R...race and religion.

nah, its definitely Politics. It used to be said a lot but you don't hear it so much now, but there's an old British expression 'never discuss Politics or religion at the dinner table' which got used in various social situations. The implication being, obviously, that it will only ever end in tears.

I have always taken the phrase of "Gods Son " to mean, "I recognize that we are all children of god but I personally will try my best to be worthy of that particular title". But I can also understand why some people might be pissed. Selflessness and egocentrism have always been a dichotomy where religions concerned.
